They don’t even do that. They just take the edge off enough that I don’t actually try to throw myself off a bridge.

Whats even more amazing is that adults today are still missing the obvious.

Man where do you live that an inch of snow is enough to call off going out?
And how much is rent?
- Comment on There was a time when everyone had common sense 3 weeks ago:
Who’s job is it to teach common sense? If you find the future generation lacking, that’s probably your fault.
When I was a teenager, my dad gave me shit for not knowing how to change brake pads, and my response was “Who was supposed to teach me?”. Like, it’s not like I could afford a car working weekends, and he was always too busy to have me around whenever something went wrong. So next time he changed the brakes, he actuality taught me.
- Comment on I’m Tired of Pretending Physical Media Isn’t Still Better Than Streaming Digital 5 weeks ago:
I have a ton of my blurays and dvds ripped to my media server, but there are some films that aren’t worth the size. Anything recent that makes use of 4k/surround i like to watch on disc rather than take up 50GB on my drive. H265 makes this a little more bearable, but I’m also really lazy and I don’t watch the high bitrate stuff THAT often.
- Comment on What MMORPG are you playing, and why? 1 month ago:
GW2 is the first MMO i out over 2k hours into. It’s a shame that the last few years have felt pretty meh. I haven’t been playing seriously since PoF, life got busy, and the narrative just wasn’t hitting with me. Also the desert maps weren’t that great imo. I guess i have more problems than I expected with it.

After my mom died, my dad sold her China to her friend for a nickel. Which is great, because I would have just taken it to the VV Boutique and donated it.
I kind of miss some of the things my mom had around the house my whole life, but also I’d I kept it all, there wouldn’t be room for my stuff. And I’m not putting Trypticon in a box so I can display some Franklin Mint goose plate.

It recommends FSR for modern games and bilinear filtering for pixel art.
FSR is already supported on any version of wine using DXVK AFAIK, so if you’re gaming on Linux, you have it.

It’s well documented that Tucker doesn’t believe the things he says. He’s just saying things for money.
- Comment on Why did the pope announce anime mascots? 2 months ago:
A couple years ago they introduced Buddy Christ to try and drum up some interest but it didn’t go anywhere.
Also, why would a religious institution with a modern problem with child abuse is a child as an icon, seems pretty unaware.

I’m in university and I’m hearing this more and more. I keep trying to guide folks away from it, but I also understand the appeal because an LLM can analyze the code in seconds and there’s no judgements made.
It’s not a good tool to rely on, but I’m hearing more and more people rely on it as I progress.
- Comment on AI Slop Is Flooding Medium 2 months ago:
The best part about this, is that new models will be trained on the garbage from old models and eventually LLMs will just collapse into garbage factories. We’ll need filter mechanisms, just like in a Neal Stephenson book.
- Comment on How is anime and manga more popular than comics and western cartoons? 3 months ago:
A graphic novel is a comic in longer form. Something like Persepolis that was released in one volume vs something like Watchmen that was released as normal comic books.

- Comment on Gen Z is actually taking sick days, unlike their older coworkers. It’s redefining the workplace 5 months ago:
Naw, it wasn’t a bad experience overall, once I fell into the habit of mixing sick days with vacation days.
They had some exploitable policies, doctors notes for 3+ sick days in a row but no questions asked about 1-2 days, vacation days with 2 weeks notice one day at a time with no right of refusal if there’s proper coverage.
This meant you could book Wednesday to Friday off two weeks in a row, and call in sick Monday/Tuesday two weeks in a row, giving you 10 days off for the cost of 4 sick/ 6 vacay. Other exploitable shenanigans were possible around Stat holidays.
The front line managers knew what the situation was, but HR never got wind unless something tripped the system,so if everyone works together on their sick days it was pretty good.
- Comment on Gen Z is actually taking sick days, unlike their older coworkers. It’s redefining the workplace 5 months ago:
I worked really hard at my first year at a big company and didn’t take any sick days. During my performance review, I scored 4/5 for attendance, even though I arrived early for every shift and did every overtime opportunity. When I asked my manager, she said it’s policy not to hand out 5’s because it sends the message that there’s no room for improvement.
No one could tell me how I could improve my attendance.
- Comment on Cords 5 months ago:
I did this.
Is it stupid? Yes. Did it work? Also yes. For the amount of time that we’d have power out, it was just way to easy to throw a breaker and connect it like this just to keep a small heater and a light running. If I had the money at the time I would have loved battery backup/ bypass but this cost $2 and an old cord. - Comment on Behold, the '98 Ford Aerostar 5 months ago:
Oh my sweet summer child. The van was brand new at the time.
The whole world used to smell like cigarettes. When the server at a restaurant asked if you wanted smoking or non smoking section, they used to be right next to each other.

A legitimate question. The smoke was from my mom.
- Comment on Behold, the '98 Ford Aerostar 5 months ago:
My mom had a red 1991, and I puked in it a ton. I remember her yelling at me “I opened the window, all the smoke is going out the window what are you complaining about?”. Long smokey drives that made me so car sick.
Just seeing one gives me the queezies.

- Comment on The Verge Under Fire For Publishing Info About ‘Deadlock,’ Valve’s Secret Shooter 5 months ago:
It’s just bad faith reporting. It reminds me of Kotaku sneaking into conventions before they opened to report what games were there.
It lowers my opinion of The Verge, I used to think they were at least reputable with standards, but that’s a real tabloid move.
- Comment on Anybody has experience with GW2 on Linux? 5 months ago:
Playing games just using WINE can be difficult since there will usually be configuration missing. If possible, use something like Lutris.net or Heroic Launcher if the game isn’t available on Steam.
Installing older games like that might work, but these other launchers do a lot on the background for you.
