If, hypothetically, VGA didn’t have a 5v rail then how would power get from the monitor to the HDMI adapter. It would absolutely have to be a part of the spec.

It’s a criticism of conservative Christians who vote against funding for social services. The same group largely responsible for Trump’s election.

I don’t know. By that late into the Simpsons runs, jokes were hard to come by.

Remember, there’s a difference between peeing in the shower and peeing into the shower.

What use would two handcuffs with a 3-foot long cord between them serve? I mean I get what you’re implying but these wouldn’t restrain anyone in any meaningful way.

Then fold the $5 bill into a paper crane and sell it for 10 dollars.
Then make a crane out of the 10 and double up again.
You’re a genius, this can go on forever.

In some ways yes and in some ways no.
Data and information are now more widely available than ever. Of course, misinformation is also more widely available than ever.
The new web feels devoid of passion/ humanity. Gone are the days of self funded sites that existed “just because”. Now everything has to generate revenue to stay afloat. I do miss the days where it felt special to be on the Internet, whether you were hosting content or observing it.

I’m in the “they killed third party app support” camp. There was no way I was switching to their app. I quit cold turkey the day API access was shut down.
- Comment on 5-minute oil change place 4 months ago:
It’s a good idea to do that where you can, but some engines mount their oil filters sideways or even upside down.
In these cases, some cars have a “clear flood” mode that will let you crank the engine without it starting. You can use this to pump oil though the engine for 5-10s and help prime your oil filter. For instance on Subarus you can hold the accelerator to the floor while you try to start it to engage this mode.

- Comment on Was Donald Trump ever cool? 6 months ago:
Rappers used to rap about trying to be like Trump. I can even think of a skit where Method Man had him make a voice memo for him on one of his albums.
People idolized him because of his rich image, unfortunately.

- Comment on Favourite 90s platformer? 7 months ago:
It created a genre. And it was surprisingly competent at what it sent out to do. In hindsight it was a miracle. Brand new technology harnessed to birth the 3D platformer. It was amazingly ambitious all around.
