I just responded to your other post, and then this one followed on my feed lol. Same situation, just on steam. Maybe one day I’ll get accepted to ONE of the tests 🙃
- Comment on Marathon vs. Arc Raiders - Discussion of the games' opposite opinions 4 days ago:
So I’m coming at this as a MASSIVE Destiny nerd. I was in the original’s Alpha, I own the first six lore books, and over the series have a bit shy of 4,000 hours (granted I imagine a few hundred hours of that is just chilling in orbit waiting on/chatting to my fireteam. It has been a very important game to me as I still game with my clan mates from D1 to this day.
Bungie gunplay has always been my favourite in the industry, the encounters are satisfying when you have a competent fireteam, and the gameplay loop kept me going for a long while. For me personally though; my friends and the overarching story were key.
After a decade, things are going to get stale. So I would take breaks here and there and come back when I actually wanted to play. Then the studio became an absolute nightmare to be invested in. The Skeletor Destiny videos are an extremely hilarious but accurate depiction of my feelings towards it all.
I was one of the handful of players that actually enjoyed playing CoD’s extraction variant, and was willing to give Bungie a chance to the extent that I participated in the ARG when Marathon was first announced. Everything since then has been negative in my personal view; from the internal drama of job cuts and accusations of poor workplace conditions to the actual game mechanics and story.
Marathon has great lore and it jogged so Halo could run. Now they’re saying there really won’t be a story right away. I actually like the character and map designs, and the gunplay is basically just Destiny 2’s with some small modifications, that’s just how the Tiger engine looks. With all that I’m just not excited.
TL;DR: I’m not going to pay 40$ so I can be a beta tester for a game that isn’t really promising me anything. I’ve done that for the last decade and largely it’s worked. Bungie has lost the prestige it really needs to make this the ‘next big thing’ IMHO

I live in California, so there was a lot of bemoaning the rising minimum wage.
“Why should someone flipping burgers earn as much as I do in a trade field?”
Mate, you should be arguing for increased wages, not trying to keep others down.

- Comment on Just watched the movie Hacksaw Ridge. Got me thinking can people in the military turn down an order because they disagree with it on sensible grounds? Like Trump ordering them to invade CN? 1 month ago:
Not active duty or a vet, but have had a lot of family in the forces;
Their duty is to uphold the constitution and protect the nation ostensibly, so they’d be obligated to refuse an illegal order. Realistically you won’t see that play out amongst the rank and file in part due to the culture of ‘discipline’ in the US military, and also the reality of court martial/dishonourable discharge. If something like this did occur it would likely be the five and/or four star generals that make the call. Now you have two powerful factions at odds with potentially catastrophic results.
Either way there’s gonna be court martials.

I’ve had my Razer Wolverine Ultimate for over 5 years, maybe even close to a decade now and have never had any issues. It’s wired but comes with a very long detachable usb to mini usb. The original wore out but replacement was super cheap. The thumb sticks are magnetic so you can just pop them off for cleaning or replacement.
It has all the features of an Xbox elite controller and once you rebind keys it stays on the controller so no need to keep a program around.
If this gets annoying enough for you or you want the extra paddles I highly recommend.

sigh I’m not happy I’m doing this either; maybe it’s the stress
I know the trope that this is playing on. I’m in collections myself for a lot of money for a partial heart attack scare (monitor your potassium levels!). It just feels icky to me since sexual assault of hospital patients absolutely does happen.
I guess for me it’s one thing to portray a doctor with a cheese grater (or the tens of other absurd variations on this meme) compared to an honestly more plausible sexual assault.
Then the double whammy of states just not helping women who want to carry to term but can’t.
All to say I see what the meme was aiming for, but I don’t love being raped as a punchline.

There’s a really well done VR mod for this game. It’s actually the only way I’ve played it so far. If you can run Steam VR I highly recommend it! I had to do a reinstall of some stuff so haven’t finished the game yet, but it’s been high on my ‘to-do list’.
- Comment on Is this just how it’s gonna be till Election Day? 9 months ago:
I’d think that as well, except anything targeted at my number uses the wrong name when they include names. Sometimes male, and sometimes female; which is interesting as I’ve kept the same number for more than a couple decades.
I’m not upset about being called ‘he’, but I would ask you to continue your use of ‘OP’ instead of it. While I’m not offended, the default assumption of someone being a guy only makes it harder for women’s voices to be heard.

I keep coming back to Skyrim VR. Great mod options that make it far more playable than base VR. That and Walkabout are the two VR games I’ve really sunk time into

I think it’s a combo of the two. I watch a lot of panel shows and the first thing that comes to mind is pandemic filming. It actually was a bit awkward at first not to have the studio laugh at first because it was traditionally filmed with a live audience. That’s still half an argument as certain shows will have cues for the audience.
At the end of the day we are very social animals and appreciate feeling emotion together so if we find something funny/scary/exciting we get positive feedback when others around us (at least sound like) they feel the same. It’s the main reason a decent amount of people enjoy going to the movies.
This will fall flat when laugh tracks are added over frequently; but when used properly (and with actually good jokes) they encourage the audience to fully engage.
Imagine the embarrassment of being the only person to clap/laugh/scream at a performance; thats the intended buffer for ‘canned’ responses.

Wasn’t the new CEO just talking about how they were counting on PC players to go out and buy the console for sequels? I’m over here still waiting for Spider-Man 2, no intention of buying a console again.

I’m really interested!!! Unfortunately I keep getting an ‘invalid credentials’ notification after clicking the link to verify. I’ve tried to reset the password but still can’t get in. I’m happy to send a donation, but want to make sure it’s linked to an account.
Do you have a character limit? I also can’t show the password while trying to log in to verify it was inserted correctly. I’ve tried both with and without special characters and am using iOS ‘suggest a password’ feature if that helps at all.
I’ll be trying again in the morning to see if goes through as I can totally understand there being a delay in verification.

I was attractions at DCA around that time frame as well! Got to do a track walk of Indy, previewed changed attractions, and got to do Tower of Terror no-show rides when I was closing.

I used to work at the parks and loved just hanging out. There’s a lot of work that went into forced perspective and theming. Disney has always leaned hard into escapism, and it’s easy to see why someone would want to be reminded of easier years.

Honestly disappointed with the combination of batch awards and probably the shortest acceptance speech timer I’ve seen. This game awards felt solely for producers and publishers, not for the people who actually made these games. I get not wanting another 8 min speech, but it left a bad taste in my mouth
