I still want the trees outdoors, but this would be cool for indoor spaces. Each mall or parking lot could have a solar panel overhead and slime-tanks to produce useful byproducts.
Maybe it could be mixed with and aquaculture like fish and sea plants to create cool scenery
- Comment on I am sick of seeing the rich and powerful on my screen. Where are all the TV shows about normal people? 4 days ago:
TV Broadcasters: “oh, so you want more shitty ‘reality TV’ then?”
- Comment on What's the point in getting married? 1 week ago:
Yeah. My buddy lived with his SO. They had kids together. I believe they did have plans to get married but there were financial/planning considerations. At the time, the house was in his name.
He died unexpectedly and without warning due to a previously unknown medical condition. I don’t believe he had a W&T.
The paperwork she had to deal with - much of which would have been not required had they been married - was horrendous, especially anything bank related. The bank also seemed to be doing their best to fuck her over in regards to the family home. It was a nasty ordeal.
- Comment on For all you inked people 2 weeks ago:
Yeah, I was thinking the same. It’s basically a visible representation of somebody’s thought process. It may indicate something important to them, something they’re passionate about, or just a point decision without due consideration for consequences.
People get tattoos that are extremely artistic and represent a significant investment in both time and money. Many get tattoos about something they have a passion for. Some to honor deceased loved ones. Some to represent their culture.
Others get a facial tat with prison symbols or to make themselves look like a lizard/devil, which I can only describe as a “look-at-me” tattoo. That may not be the type of personality you want working for you or even to hang out with…

Yeah some of them back then would probably have been able to braid more than just the hair on their head…

My wife loves Asian period dramas and this is a hugely common thing that drives me nuts. It doesn’t matter if you’ve got period clothing and scenery etc. If the “lowly common girl” has a perfect complexion, teeth, and obvious cosmetics it just breaks it.

Contrast that to i.e. J Jonah Jameson in the Tobie McGuire Spider Man movies. I was absolutely floored to see how they managed to get somebody who fit they look, attitude and mannerisms of what was pretty much a relatively low-screen-time side-character.
Actually in general I’d say the casting choices for the first two movies contributed very strongly to their success. So many of them just fit.

Haven’t seen it. Good?
I should add it to my list
- Comment on Mickey 17 is a big middle finger to space-obsessed strongmen [Review] 1 month ago:
Yeah. The MC is a jackass but he does learn a bit over the series and there’s some depth to the thoughts on how little would react to being able to come back from dying repeatedly (and the first “training scenario”) under most scenarios.

The idea of 3D printed resurrection machines isn’t new. It’s pretty much the whole basis of the Undying Mercenaries series by B.V. Larson

Yeah I’ve got regular back and ankle issues. It’s annoying when they flare up but really not that bad. Unfortunately manuals are harder and harder to find so this will likely be my last

Ruined photography?
Professionals or hobbyists can still use a proper camera but the old maxim “sometimes the best camera is the one you have with you” often applies and cellphones do fairly well in that regard
- Comment on As the Canada "tax holiday" starts, Walmart increased the price of an item by the amount I would have saved 4 months ago:
Yeah. Calling something a sale at a price that’s not actually discounted under the regular price (with some caveats on how long it needs to be at said regular price), then yeah it’s a violation of the act. Basically false advertising.
Bumping up the regular price to cover what you’d have otherwise saved on tax is dickish but not against any regulations AFAIK
- Comment on As the Canada "tax holiday" starts, Walmart increased the price of an item by the amount I would have saved 4 months ago:
Raising prices then advertising a “sale” at the same/higher price IS actually against the law though. Unfortunately we have terrible enforcement of these laws but they do exist:
- Comment on Funko, BrandShield speak out about itch.io takedown 4 months ago:
Some are useful. It’s not uncommon for scammers to throw up copies of legitimate sites, but hosting malware etc. Having tried to deal with Google, GoDaddy-et-al I can attest that their fucks given about such things is minimal but one of these companies can get offending sites taken down pretty quick.
The problem is when they don’t do due-diligence (and don’t face reasonable consequences for failing in said diligence) and then shit like this happens

LoL… That has the feel of getting sent to the principal’s office for something that they kinda actually agree with (or at least find amusing) but have to deal with by policy.
- Comment on Binary search 5 months ago:
And also that - depending on the format of the video and software involved - doing a “binary search” might not be that simple
With my own NVR system, it takes great quality video and I can pull files of it, but the actual interface is pretty janky to say the least, and accessing stuff like the fisheye cameras only really works well within the vendor’s app.
