Less than it would be if they expected you to go full ham 24/7.
- Comment on I have unlimited cellular data on my phone but not if I use it as a hotspot. 7 months ago:
Unlimited data for your phone, not your computer.
- Comment on I have unlimited cellular data on my phone but not if I use it as a hotspot. 7 months ago:
The carrier who’s paying for your traffic. You’re most likely going to use a lot more data on a computer than actually on your phone.
- Comment on Phil Spencer wants Epic Games Store and others on Xbox consoles 7 months ago:
Apple doesn’t have a monopoly though, there’s still Android. And outside of the US Android is more popular than iOS.
- Comment on Phil Spencer wants Epic Games Store and others on Xbox consoles 7 months ago:
Are there any other virtual stores on the console? There’s obviously physical store fronts, but I’m pretty sure there’s only the one digitally on console.
- Comment on Not buying a shaver from Philips again.. 7 months ago:
My favorite was devices that just said 12v X Amps, but never specified center positive or center negative.
Fuck you Sony, stop using center negative. It’s a crime against humanity.
- Comment on Not buying a shaver from Philips again.. 7 months ago:
Any company that’s passing 120 (or god forbid 240v) into those tiny little plugs with almost no insulation between them is begging to be sued for electrocuting people. No device used in the bathroom should be passing straight 120v through a connector like that.

How much knowledge?
- Comment on Are there any good, apolitical right-leaning podcasts out there? 8 months ago:
Uh… NPR absolutely gets into the politics of things. Maybe not a deep dive, but 90% of what I hear that isn’t music I’d describe 100% as politics.

Isn’t it honey AND high fructose corn syrup, and with honey being above the syrup it’s mostly honey?
- Comment on Local secondhand site won’t load if you use a VPN 8 months ago:
Also a lot of dip shit scammers probably tried using the VPN before you so they’re banned now.
- Comment on Physical or Digital? 8 months ago:
PC? All digital.
Consoles? All physical
I do t play games on console all that often so I’d rather the option to pick up a cheap used copy. Plus I could play that game any number of years down the road when the servers are long shut down. But on PC I just want to click the button and the game installs and opens.

When you’re not involved it sucks, but when you are it’s amazing. I’ve gotten really good at ignoring them, but it took years.
Now a quad copter in the office sounds awful. How tall are your ceilings?
- Comment on Knights among toner cartridges 8 months ago:
The one up side to the open floor plan at work is it makes throwing nerf darts at co workers across the office easier.
Nothing is better when you’re frustrated than beaming a dart at your buddy.

EVs will depreciate to the point that low income people can buy them. Same with how gas cars are now.
For charging that will require a lot of upgrades on the land lords part. You don’t need to charge all that often, but if they can supply 240 volt outlets to 1/4 the parking spots that would satisfy most peoples needs.

Also if you’re overweight then losing some will help a lot.
- Comment on Microsoft Flight Simulator x Dune - Official Launch Trailer 9 months ago:
Yeah that’s really bad. What are the specs of your machine? My i9 rtx 3080 laptop was dropping a few frames with the video at 4k, but the viewable picture closer to 1440p.
- Comment on Microsoft Flight Simulator x Dune - Official Launch Trailer 9 months ago:
Supposedly it’s 60 fps. Right click and do the stats for nerds and see if you’re dropping frames.
That said it doesn’t really feel like consistent 60 fps. Some parts definitely look like it wasn’t recorded in 60 or something.
- Comment on How does employing a rapist not constitute an unsafe work environment for female employees? 9 months ago:
What someone did in the past doesn’t mean they’re going to do it again. You may be paranoid about it, but imagine how they feel if they’re a legitimately changed person? That said I’d still be cautious.
I agree with @captainlezbian Was he convicted, or found innocent? Unless he’s doing weird shit that doesn’t justify continued discrimination.
- Comment on Is creating an online bibliography a waste of time? 9 months ago:
I wish I could find it now. But there was someone who ran a blog and they were talking about how focusing on analytics was ruining their motivation and fun. Eventually they ended up removing analytics entirely and only periodically check logs from their web server to make sure it’s not broken broken. And ultimately they just did it for the fun of it. Whether people looked at it or not wasn’t a concern.

Yes.
- Comment on Which one is more energy/fuel efficient to cool the inside of the car: lower thermostat + lower fan speed, or slightly higher thermostat + higher fan speed? 9 months ago:
It depends on a large number of factors. Largely it doesn’t matter.
What I personally do is start my car with a low fan speed, let the evaporator cool down, then start cranking up the fan speed so I feel the cooler air. When it’s really hot out my AC can’t keep up in my car, and blasting the AC essentially guarantees that I’ll never feel cold air. I’ll just have a cooler ambient temperature, but the air blowing at me (that I’m feeling) is warmer so I feel hotter.
- Comment on [deleted] 9 months ago:
don’t you have a life out of work?
Yes. I don’t spend 80 hours a week on overtime it’s like 5 or 6 a week, maybe a bit more of I’m doing work in between down time doing other stuff.
why aren’t you somebody very easy to manipulate?
I don’t know exactly what you’re trying to say with that. Are you trying to say I’m being manipulated into working overtime? You could argue that to a degree, but I only do it when I feel like doing it, or there’s shit to be done. I get paid bonuses for meeting goals so I mostly work extra to make sure we hit those goals and get phat paychecks. It also gives me time to fuck around during the day when I’m bored and just want to fuck off.
- Comment on [deleted] 9 months ago:
I’m salaried. The amount of hours I work has no impact on the pay I get.
- Comment on [deleted] 9 months ago:
in what fantasy land do you live where jobs are supposed to make you happy?
It’s not a fantasy, it’s my current job right now.
Why don’t you do it for free?
You could argue I do with all the overtime I do. Granted that overtime leads to getting more raises so I don’t know if that qualifies.
Is your job your whole identity?
The opposite, I made my hobbies my job. I love fucking around with computers so I got a job fucking around with computers.
Find a job you love, and find a job filled with people who will love you back. It’s not easy, but it’s not impossible either. You may need to move, you may need to go back to school. And worst of all, you may need to schmooze. Nepotism and cronyism gets jobs. Having a large network of people you associate with, and know what you want is probably the biggest key to getting the job of your dream.
- Comment on [deleted] 9 months ago:
I have observed that people are eager to help you if you give them attention.
People that like you are more likely to help you. If you tell them to fuck off they’re not going to like you, and they’re not going to help you. And they make just make your life worse depending on how much of an ass you are. They’re probably trying to talk to you because they see you (presumably) looking miserable and want to be nice.
It’s a means to an end.
If that’s your only view of jobs you’ll probably never find one that will make you happy. Have you considered finding a different job that you’d actually enjoy? You’re much more likely to enjoy talking to your co workers when you’re surrounded by likeminded people.
- Comment on Dual booting with chrome OS while retaining school content: is it possible? 10 months ago:
Does the machine have a socketed SSD? Just swap the drive.
Also I’d highly suggest not doing this because the last thing you’d want is to get caught and get banned from using a computer at school.
- Comment on How do I breathe quietly through my nose? 10 months ago:
How rapidly are you breathing? Are you taking 15 breaths per minute or 50?
If you’re breathing in and out slowly at closer to 15 and it’s audible then something is wonky with your nose. If you’re at 50 just sitting still or casually walking around then you’re probably just out of shape.

Yeah I knew it wasn’t walmart by the stuff at checkout not being the right color, but I’ve never seen a Mejer before. I take it they’re basically the same thing as walmart?
