Some of it’s also probably situation based.
If you hit on every single person of the gender that you like at one gym, they’ll probably start to feel like you really just want just anyone who will say yes. They’ll probably feel like you don’t like them for them, and that you’re just trying to keep your bed warm. Most people who want relationships want to be with someone who likes them individually as a person. Try not to write “scripts” for the situation in your head too much, either. If you do, it might crash and burn the second that someone goes off of that “script”.
It’s kind of tragic how all of this has become. A relationship likely won’t fix any problems you might have with yourself, nor would it fix most of the other aspects of your life. A partner will also have their own needs and wants, and you should try to have room to provide some of that before you start dating.
Don’t listen to guys like Tate. If he really had good advice, more people from his fan base would be in a happy relationship now, no? He makes money by making you continue to watch his videos. That’s all he cares about. He’s giving you bad advice so he can keep making money off of your sadness. That’s not a bro thing to do.
Don’t follow the plot of any rom-coms. That behaviour is usually a fantastic way to get a restraining order and absolutely ruin any chances you might have had with that person.
Find the little things that make you happy. Gardening? MTG? Video games? Hockey? Drawing? MMA? Take the time to properly enjoy those things that you love with the people who are already around you. It will help build some of that confidence. Let youself be passionate about your hobbies sometimes. It’s ok, I promise.
Try not to worry too much if you mess up or if you ruin your chances with one person. There are over 8 billion people on earth, so there’s almost always someone else you can try with. NO ONE succeeds 100% of the time, and that is more than OK. That is human.
Don’t beat yourself up over not succeeding right away. Unless you are literally currently on your death bed, you still have time.
Outside of the dating stuff, be kind to youself, and try to make sure you’re taking care of yourself. Self care isn’t just fitness and healthy eating. Sometimes could be having pizza in the bath, sometimes it might be playing DnD over multiple continents, sometimes it might be watching cartoons, and sometimes it could even be something like skincare. Your happiness is important, and you should treat it as such.
As long as it doesn’t harm anyone else in the process, please do what you need to do to feel happy. Life is too short to pause your happiness for someone who hasn’t shown up yet. Life is too short to wait to improve things until you meet someone who hasn’t shown up yet.
You deserve happiness, and the sooner you acknowledge that, the better. Find happiness despite what life might throw at you. Try to find joy even in chaos, and always remember that bad feelings usually don’t last forever. You can get through these hard times.

IIRC the protests in Canada were also super controversial, especially for the people who lived there at the time.
I will not get into that here, though.
If you aren’t keeping your life savings in cash and you wouldn’t trust digital currency, how would you propose your idea?
Even stuff like bitcoin would be susceptible to your concerns about government overeach. Investing could also easily be a crapshoot, because your entire life saving would still be reliant on someone who doesn’t know or care you.
What do you suggest?

I hated that scary moment when the big bag of milk bags fell open unexpectedly.
The tension that I’d feel after dropping the bags was immense. It was like time slowed while waiting to see if one of them would burst. It was freakier when one of the falling bags bounced off the floor. Fun times.

It feels like it’s been ages since I’ve played WoW.
I remember the days of the spiffworld youtube videos, where Jonathan Coulton songs were played in the background while WoW characters dancing/acting along to the lyrics.

You also have to love how it’s a federal holiday in some places. People who work for the government got the day off, but there was practically nothing for the legit indigenous other than seeing people wearing orange shirts.
Idk, it’s weird to me because the government played a massive role in what happened. It’s odd that the provincial government gave themselves a long weekend over it.

To be honest, it might not hurt for them to do some of those tests anyways in some circumstances. Some people might go through their entire life without knowing that they have both types of internal reproductive organs. Hell, some people don’t know that a majority their organs are inversed from the normal positioning.
Aside from that, I would argue that at the medical care level, it could/should be considered private medical information. Let’s say hypothetically that someone has severe PCOS. Having PCOS increases the risks for certain cancers, but it’s still unnecessary for anyone other than their doctor to know about it.
If you’re in the emergency room, they’re probably going to be doing various tests on you if you have severe symptoms. If you have severe abdominal pain, you’re probably going to get an ultrasound. You’ll probably get bloodwork tests that look at various hormone levels. (Pregnancy and a certain testicular cancer share some of the same flags. Certain hormone levels can also indicate thyroid issues.)
If someone goes to their doctor with complaints about their own reproductive system, I would hope that their doctor tests and treats them for that problem. Again, intersex people DO exist, so proper investigation should be a thing already. Even with CIS people, not everyone looks the same, and I think that it would be a shameful reason to let a person die.

For me, that’s not the case. I enjoyed the amount of content and discussion, but I just lost interest in reddit over time.
I saw the same jokes too often. I got sick of seeing the ads. The admins perma-banned my fiancee’s account, despite her never really commenting or posting. They never gave a reason for banning her, other than going against “policy”, which they never specified when asked. It would be the equivilant of being banned from every single instance. Some of the “helpful” communities were becoming much more toxic over time. I stayed despite that stuff.
Then, the API thing happened. It wasn’t that reddit wanted to profit, but rather how they went about it. Had they been honest with the developers when they asked at the start of the contract year, it would have been much smoother. You can’t change the cost of a yearly subscription halfway through the year. I disliked the provable false rumors that were spread about developers.
I disliked that Spez heavily implied that people leaving reddit would harm reddit employees. He didn’t make that statement about someone who made those threats, but instead he made it about the people leaving. It left a very bad taste in my mouth. I’m not monetarily supporting someone like that if I have any say in the matter.
I disliked the sudden overwhelming toxicity that I saw start against people who were recommending Lemmy. I get being rude to people who are rude, but it’s lame to be rude just because. Someone told me that I would be back, that I should just wait to see them right. That person helped me stay off reddit, tbh.
I don’t understand fanaticism, regardless of the company/platform/group, etc. If I start to dislike a social media, I will move somewhere that I like better. If Lemmy becomes like what Reddit is today, I’ll leave Lemmy too. There’s always something else. I also don’t really care if Reddit sinks or swims. That has nothing to do with me. If I get sick of all social media, I won’t use it. There are lots of other things to do with free time.

What about the sneaker ways of advertising? Companies sometimes pay people to write reviews, even if they aren’t an influencer. This is because it looks like a “normal person” wrote it, so other people will be more likely to trust it.
You might hear some and not know it, there is a lot of noise in a lot of places. Free samples are also a form of advertising, as the company is paying for them to be given out. It might even be a little sticker on a box of something that you already buy. Grocery flyers are a form of advertising. Someone you know may be advertised to and love the product and recommend it. In that scenario, advertising to them would also affect you, even if you didn’t see or hear an ad. Scary stuff sometimes.
The easiest way to fall for it is to believe you are immune. Believing that you are immune to propaganda usually just eventually leads to letting more things slide. The only way to be sure is to be vigilant. Even then, it’s an odds game.

For real, though.
I’m tall, but I’m not THAT tall. I already have lots of back problems, even though I always bend with my knees when I’m crouching or reaching for something on the ground.
Most of the world simply isn’t built for tall people. You might have no leg room, you might hit your head on many car door frames, amusement park rides are too small/short for you, many normal shirts fit like crop tops, and many pants fit like water-highs. Of course, you can’t forget people’s incessant NEED to announce to you that you are in fact, tall. (Gee, I haven’t noticed lol.) Forget about many long-sleeved tops, too. That’s a fun one in the winter sometimes.
It’s also really annoying to have people regularly tell you that your own personal experience with being tall is wrong. Like I’m sorry to hear that some people may wish they were taller, but it doesn’t magically make the legitimate problems that being tall causes go away. Not having those problems would be so nice.
I’m not at all saying being short is a walk in the park, but being tall isn’t always a walk in the park, either. You can be tall and still lack social skills, confidence, charisma, etc. I can promise you that. Becoming tall probably won’t fix that, either.

I used to just cut the top off of the box using a kitchen knife. I would start just below one of the corners, with the box on it’s side, and I sawed through it.
I got some funny looks for that one.
You know that the serrated lines aren’t great when cutting the cardboard with a kitchen knife is legitimately easier. The blade wasn’t serrated, either.

- Comment on Ending Copyright Could Save Art & Journalism [17:35] 1 year ago:
I agree that it shouldn’t be an extreme either way. Like you mentioned, it’s crazy that the Happy Birthday song is still copyrighted. It was composed by two people, and the last of the composers of that song died in 1946 . The last creator has been dead since the year after WWII ended, and the song is still copyrighted.
On the other hand, I think that having time-specific copyright is still very important for a lot of artists and creators. If anyone can create and sell merchandise based on you, you’ll lose control of your brand image/reputation. If no one has to pay for creative work, it won’t be reasonable to continue that art/passion for many people. If artists, authors and the like can’t make income from their work, they’ll have to spend their time at a regular job instead of working on the next cool thing. That also means that we probably won’t get the next cool thing.
Most people don’t want to work hard on something just for someone else can take credit for it, even on a small scale. I think that that’s reasonable, especially for creative works. If it was actually easy to create these things, everyone probably would, no? If creating art is as effortless as some people claim, those people should have no problem respecting those copyright protections. They can just easily make their own, right?
I feel terrible for the people who have worked on their craft for their whole life, as now they’re having to worry about losing the protections that let them do their thing.
There’s no way that only regular people would take advantage of copyright protections dissapearing. This would probably turn into an "artist vs xy corporation " scenario, but it would alsi be in more places than just music. Can you imagine the implications for other industries? Big companies would totally just steal ideas and works from small businesses. Not having copyright laws would mean that the law would be on the big companies side, and that the small business owner would be screwed.
