- Comment on After Years of Struggling To Be Noticed, My Indie Game Was Covered By VICE 5 days ago:
It’s cool you guys allow it. I find banning self-promotion is such a stupid rule for a games community. It’s cool seeing people make games, too!
- Comment on Is there really a difference between my understanding the phrase "go for a walk" and my dog understanding the phrase "go for a walk"? 1 week ago:
I think it’s more you as a person understand that the sentence is that, a sentence. You understand how the sentence is made, why it means what it means, not just what it means.
The dog only understands the what.
Doesn’t mean you still can’t help teach dogs to communicate. Even saw a segment recently on PBS about dogs learning to use buttons that produce words and using them to make short sentences to communicate with their owners.

Well shit that answers my question as well. I’d definitely set him straight on his “disappointing” because it doesn’t seem like he respects an agreement.
Good luck separating that man child from his money at least.

Wild how this is a controversial comment when Lemmy is supposedly left leaning.

Never been homeless but I’d definitely take it over slavery. It has to be better than being a flesh robot.
Not only is freedom priceless (my opinion), but I’m sure as hell not enriching someone else to my own detriment.

Why not just stream it?

Sorry if prying, but why didn’t your mother just get alimony? Easier to get if the other parent has good income, no?

Are they redeemable to Steam or direct download? Long as it’s not through EGS, cool.

What’s this about free games?
- Comment on Phoenix Labs (creators of Dauntless and Fae Farm) just laid off most of their dev team 3 weeks ago:
I think the issue is more that VC’s prioritize draining money out of what they acquire instead of continuing with what works for longer term gains.
- Comment on Phoenix Labs (creators of Dauntless and Fae Farm) just laid off most of their dev team 3 weeks ago:
If you worked on Dauntless, just want to say I appreciate your part! Only played it for a while at release because the grind turned me off but it’s been sad seeing news pop up of how it has been going downhill. Was such a fun game.
Sucks that good game devs get laid off because the leaders are asleep at the wheel unless it involves monetization.

Why is this even downvoted.
- Comment on Call of Duty's massive development budgets revealed: $700 million for Black Ops Cold War 1 month ago:
Give them Titanfall 2 if you want them to play a good shooter. Sure, they might come out of the campaign with depression, but certainly not with heads filled with propaganda!

I feel like that’s more on the parents for not informing their child about the MIC and how they basically sign themselves away to be government property.

Yeah I was surprised someone actually lived there. I thought it was just some random abandoned house the guy left the robot in so we could explore but we catched a glimpse of him behind a door watching TV.

Nicer than me. I’d stay away from this rat nest.

Funniest shit ever. Someone was just driving it into walls in a hallway that looked abandoned. I took control when it went idle and maneuvered to what looked to be a bathroom. Someone else turned it around and spotted a mirror at floor level.

Wow is this me? Same situation, but conflicted because even though I find him an awful person he’s always provided for my family and continues to let me live rent free. We probably interact once a week.
- Comment on [deleted] 1 month ago:
This is always an option. You don’t have to force it. As a personal example, I love pretty much everyone in my family but I don’t share any of their interests. Just talk with your son and be supportive like how the poster says. Who knows, might find some common interest eventually.
- Comment on [deleted] 1 month ago:
I can see why you made this post. What a peculiar set of interests. Could probably find some crafts to do with him.

- Comment on Longtime buddy of mine just got a gaming PC. What games would make up a good "welcome to PC" care package? 1 month ago:
Gift him a Starsector code or share your own if already have one.
Gift any super moddable games he likes. If he enjoys Bethesda games on consoles, he will definitely love PC only mods. Also explain to him what Big Picture Mode on Steam is. I wish I knew it existed when I started. Get the same console experience and seamless controller integration even if the game doesn’t officially support it.

- Comment on Rumors Of End to Xbox-Only Exclusives Swirl As More Game Studios Embrace Simultaneous Launch Strategy 2 months ago:
I believe for the first Outer Worlds it was multiplatform because it was published by Private Division (owned by 2K at the time), not Microsoft. Obsidian wasn’t owned by Microsoft yet when the game was being developed. Of course, it just makes businesses sense to release the sequel on PS5 too for more money from sales.
- Comment on What game surprised you with their length? 2 months ago:
You can still get short games, you just won’t find them from AAA developers anymore because publishers want big games with bigger profits. Titanfall 2 was a great campaign even if short, but Halo 5 was the last short game we had and people threw a shit storm (rightly, it wasn’t near the quality of TF2 and had other issues).
If you want short games, the indie space has you covered. Always small games out there releasing.
And game devs have certainly not become inefficient, it’s just the standards of quality are higher. People still want more complex, better looking games. And I don’t mean just graphics; unique art styles are all the rage. Games like Balatro and Cruelty Squad prove graphics aren’t everything as long as you keep a cohesive style and have good gameplay to back it up.
Personally though I avoid small games. I’ve had my fill of them growing up, I’d rather play big games with open worlds and all that jazz. I want to be invested in these worlds not play and forget.
- Comment on What game surprised you with their length? 2 months ago:
Yeah, games take time to make. It’s good that they have more content now. Do you not remember how short campaigns used to be?
