As I understand these NSF-funded research projects are only part of the entire curriculum. So it would be a misrepresentation to say that the US is “getting rid of” these students. They will still study and get a degree, they’ll just have a harder time finding an appropriate research project. That’s still bad, but not the same as what is claimed by the tweet.

How is the price of a cryptocoin even relevant to this post?
- Comment on RIP America 1 week ago:
The tweet gave me the impression that these people lose their jobs. But it turns out that’s not entirely true, because it also counts undergrad and preK students who participate in a program one way or another. That’s still bad, but not as bad as the tweet suggests.

But seemingly most of these numbers are students?

Yep. If anything, this is an opportunity for the guy to show that he’s not just in it for the sex.
When I date men, one of the main things I look for is how they handle rejection.

Yikes. Lonely men aren’t automatically an incel.

I get that and I think I would do the same. But you have to realize that a loved one asking you this question is clearly not trying to trick you. Rather, you could see it as them giving you an opportunity to show how lovely you are. It’s the setup for a joke and you can make them smile.

My ex told me they would build me the most beautiful worm house and then go on a quest to track down the wizard who cursed me. I thought that was beautiful.

I am aware. And usually that means crossposting the jokes or making fun of 4channers, not uncritically repeating their dogwhistles.
Just so you’re aware, the phrase “noticing things” or “being a noticer” is 4chan lingo for believing there is a Jewish conspiracy to run the world. That’s why I asked OP to clarify.
- Comment on Anon notices 2 months ago:
Hey OP, do you actually think Christians in the US are marginalized, or did you just cross-post that alt-right garbage here by accident?
- Comment on Pens in Space 2 months ago:
NASA still foots the bill either way. In this arrangement, the cost of development is simply included in the price of the product plus a fixed profit margin. Such ‘cost-plus’ contracts are [criticized] (arstechnica.com/…/nasa-chief-says-cost-plus-contr…) because it eliminates competing for efficiency and incentivises contractors to make their solutions as complicated and expensive as possible.

if we take it as true that light speed is the same in every direction
This is the crucial assumption, that to my knowledge hasn’t been proven or disproven. Because the alternative, light goes faster in one particular direction, is also perfectly consistent with everything. And if you’re moving atomic clocks, correcting for time dilations requires you to make assumptions about the one-way speed of light (which we only know from measuring roundtrip times)
- Comment on It's the law! 3 months ago:
That’s just shifting the problem. There is no known way to reliably sync remote clocks except by sending packets and assuming the round-trip time is symmetrical. This is a known problem in physics: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One-way_speed_of_light

- Comment on App stores unconvinced by Trump's pause of TikTok ban, which may be on shaky legal ground 5 months ago:
“May be on shaky legal ground”
The law clearly states that Tiktok is banned and should be made inaccessible. The president cannot unilaterally change the law. They even got a lawyer to explain this to them.
Regardless of what you think of the ban, there can be no doubt about the fact that this is what the law says. No matter what Trump claims. If journalists show this level of misregard for truth and the rule of law, things are going to become much worse.

Putin couldn’t care less about the support from some random programmers. Be realistic, what do you expect them to do? Take up arms? Protest and get imprisoned? Vote in the sham elections?
Targeting random civilians in hopes of political change is the strategy of terrorists.
