Rust is great, and I truly mean that. But saying you can’t get race conditions in Rust is just not true.
And also, not everything is going to be written in Rust. When the company you’re working for needs a web application quickly, that’s better done in other languages.
And also also, Spring has a lot of niceties when it comes to concurrency that make this much less of a point.
- Comment on Anon tries programming in Java 1 week ago:
No. Every language has its haters. There’s a reason Java is so widely used. If you like it, keep at it.
- Comment on Anon tries programming in Java 1 week ago:
I’ve been programming in Java professionally for 11 years. It’s not just embellishment, it’s outright lying.
Threads giving you race conditions? All concurrent programming will do that if you’re shit at it.
Java has come a long way. I will admit that UI in Java is terrible. I would never do that.

I was so excited for the game that I got ahold of a leaked alpha before the game released and played that. And then of course pre-ordered the game and played it immediately when it released.

I was really excited for Otherworld.

The US has a left lean (“left” by US standards). What I mean by that is it’s not an even split. The majority of Americans lean left. The only reasons the right has any power in this country is due to the first past the post voting system, gerrymandering, voter suppression, and the electoral college.

- Comment on Oblivion Horse Armour dev looks back on hated DLC – “We had no idea what we were doing” 5 weeks ago:
I will admit to being one of the people who bought this DLC when it came out. I was very engrossed in the game at that time and felt like $2.50 was trivial enough that I just went for it.
Now, I was uninformed about what the armor did and was disappointed that it was only cosmetic. But I don’t remember regretting buying it.
In hindsight, I wish I hadn’t bought it. And it’s something I wouldn’t buy now.

Valve have done scummy things, too. But I’m not going to pretend that somehow they’re both equally bad.

I’m never giving the company that made billions exploiting the FOMO of children my money. I won’t install the launcher. I don’t didn’t need their free games.
I don’t didn’t care if they can throw their massive pile of Fortnite cash around to give developers more money.

Hey, they did a good job, and no one was being mean about it. That’s nice.

Right, I forgot there was a second one. I meant the one with Timothy Olyphant.

Am I the only one who enjoyed the Hitman movie? I haven’t seen it in a long time, and I never played the games.

“I just don’t want someone taller/stronger/heavier than me”
I hate this so much. It’s the inverse of women who will only date tall men.
Speaking for myself, I like women. And that means all kinds. It’s so hard for me to imagine seeing a woman who falls outside the “standard” and being turned off by that alone.
- Comment on Good game soundtracks? 3 months ago:
Same artist who did the music for TUNIC. While its soundtrack isn’t great to listen to alone in my opinion, it is phenomenal in game. To the point where watching the trailer gives me goosebumps.
Also, I emailed the artist once to ask permission to use the Dustforce soundtrack in a YouTube video I was making. They gave me permission and I sent the video to them when it was posted and they said very nice things about it.

That’s interesting. I didn’t know that. I tried working with Waydroid once on Bazzite on an older desktop of mine and didn’t get terribly far with it.

I’ve always been too much of a cheapskate curmudgeon to pay for food delivery and I’ve been increasingly baffled by people who pay hundreds of dollars a month to have cold, soggy fast food delivered at an eye watering premium.
I get laziness, I really do. For me, personally, going to pick up food is the lazy option.

Just a preface that I don’t like PoE.
Season 4 is a lot more fun, but I still think D3 is a better game. But if you compare D4 to what D3 was like at after release, D4 is in much better shape. It’s definitely heading in the right direction, and I suspect that the expansion in August will make it much better, similar to how D2 and D3 did.
Back to season 4, I leveled to max level, maxed out the battle pass, and experienced all of the content and that was good enough for me. I want really interested in sticking around to switch to better build and get the best gear.
