Coming from 4chan, I read it as loser whinging about “woke”.
- Comment on SteamOS expands beyond Steam Deck 2 weeks ago:
I didn’t think it’s just Arch , though. IIRC it’s also immutable.
- Comment on what was the last game you played in 2024? 2 weeks ago:
Caves of Qud. I was playing it when the clock hit midnight because I lost track of time.

Valve bootlickers
It ain’t like that, kiddo. I support other stores like GoG, too. I just refuse to ever use EGS unless they completely change.
- Comment on I’m Tired of Pretending Physical Media Isn’t Still Better Than Streaming Digital 3 weeks ago:
I’m tired of “I’m tired of pretending”.
It’s almost as annoying as “who says X can’t Y”.
They’re so rhetorically empty.

Rule #1 of firearms safety is to not point a gun at anything you don’t want to shoot.
How the fuck would that work in a movie, exactly?

- Comment on I bought an HP Laptop with 8gb of Ram...and was suppose to be 256gb SSD. I downloaded one game and its all the way down to 80. Is there any free software to download to help? 5 weeks ago:
It’s funny the biases that crop up in these threads. Another poster says to format the drive and reinstall windows with de-bloating software and that gets upvoted while probably being a more complex process than installing Linux.
- Comment on Outer Worlds 2 no longer exclusive to Xbox, is now coming to PS5 – WGB 5 weeks ago:
Fanboying consoles and platform exclusives are old and lame. Get with the times, grampa.

Also as if people of the “same culture” aren’t equally as hard to live around.
- Comment on How Shopping Malls Are Being Transformed Into Apartments In The U.S. 1 month ago:
Agreed on all fronts. I’d love to live in something like this as long as the mall had stores in it I liked. Like a true mixed use building.

You can buy an induction burner for like $50 and they work great and have no fire risk.
- Comment on 1080p viewing experience 1 month ago:
YouTube compresses the shit out of 1080p content. Any video that has a lot of movement will look like trash at 1080p. Even if you’re on a lower resolution monitor, the higher bit rate of higher resolution videos will look better. It’s all very stupid on our end, but I assume it saves them a ton on bandwidth.

I’m sorry, sir. I’ll get off your lawn ASAP!
- Comment on What are your favorite "gotta go in blind" games? 1 month ago:
That one’s tough. I went in blind when the steam version released and had a blast. The actual “game” part is not challenging once you figure out the basics. The fun of it is the stories that spring up that are mostly out of your control.
So, I’d say going in blind, but being open to asking questions or googling specific things is a great way to play it.
- Comment on Anon tries programming in Java 2 months ago:
Rust is great, and I truly mean that. But saying you can’t get race conditions in Rust is just not true.
And also, not everything is going to be written in Rust. When the company you’re working for needs a web application quickly, that’s better done in other languages.
And also also, Spring has a lot of niceties when it comes to concurrency that make this much less of a point.
- Comment on Anon tries programming in Java 2 months ago:
No. Every language has its haters. There’s a reason Java is so widely used. If you like it, keep at it.
- Comment on Anon tries programming in Java 2 months ago:
I’ve been programming in Java professionally for 11 years. It’s not just embellishment, it’s outright lying.
Threads giving you race conditions? All concurrent programming will do that if you’re shit at it.
Java has come a long way. I will admit that UI in Java is terrible. I would never do that.
- Comment on Terraria hits over 60 million sales with Terraria 1.4.5 shaping up to be another big update 2 months ago:
I was so excited for the game that I got ahold of a leaked alpha before the game released and played that. And then of course pre-ordered the game and played it immediately when it released.

I was really excited for Otherworld.
- Comment on What do you like/dislike about lemmy? 2 months ago:
The US has a left lean (“left” by US standards). What I mean by that is it’s not an even split. The majority of Americans lean left. The only reasons the right has any power in this country is due to the first past the post voting system, gerrymandering, voter suppression, and the electoral college.

- Comment on Oblivion Horse Armour dev looks back on hated DLC – “We had no idea what we were doing” 2 months ago:
I will admit to being one of the people who bought this DLC when it came out. I was very engrossed in the game at that time and felt like $2.50 was trivial enough that I just went for it.
Now, I was uninformed about what the armor did and was disappointed that it was only cosmetic. But I don’t remember regretting buying it.
In hindsight, I wish I hadn’t bought it. And it’s something I wouldn’t buy now.

Valve have done scummy things, too. But I’m not going to pretend that somehow they’re both equally bad.
- Comment on Remedy Entertainment Has Received A Loan From Tencent 3 months ago:
I’m never giving the company that made billions exploiting the FOMO of children my money. I won’t install the launcher. I don’t didn’t need their free games.
I don’t didn’t care if they can throw their massive pile of Fortnite cash around to give developers more money.
