There’s a reason nationalistic symbols, flags, pledge of allegiance and that kind of thing are everywhere in america. It’s to stop people from questioning exactly that narrative.

That would probably be labeled as incelligence by the replier in the OP.

And how do you succeed in life? Step 1 is to have rich parents. The term commonly used for those seeking out people from rich families is gold digger.

The classic circular reasoning.
“They’re rich because they worked hard for that money so they earn it. How do you know they worked hard? Because they’re rich of course. If they didn’t work hard they wouldn’t be rich!”

That was the ancient economy, before money even existed. You gave stuff to people. Bread, pots, meat, build a cabin. They gave stuff back that you needed, roughtly about the same value, but never exactly the value. Everybody has to be a little in debt to anyone else. If you gave back exactly what it’s worth, it means you don’t want to deal with that person anymore.

We had those for child care. Then government added additional regulations for safety after some incidents, and a lot of them quit because the additional costs made it not worth it anymore. Now the government complains about a shortage of child care places.

The tech bros count. They’d like to turn life into hell anyway.
- Comment on Based arguments for solar 2 weeks ago:
They know. Margins on oil are bigger. When oil price goes up, charge customers more immediately and slowly lower them is a classic for a reason. But when you build a solar park, someone invents cheaper panels.
Luckily they’re not the only people in the energy sector.

that are a mix of socialism and capitalism
What boils down to wealth distribution and letting wealth concentrate, but with fancier words. You need a balance of the two.
- Comment on Literally nobody 3 weeks ago:
Not really. Pastors are being pushed out for being too woke and replaced by a more right wing figure. The congregation gets what the congregation wants. They’ve gone supply-side Jesus.
- Comment on No ChatGPT for sexy time 4 weeks ago:
Just the same as many folks falling on hard time grab for booze and/or other substances to get to their day. People I general don’t become poor by doing drugs first. But that would mean admitting society has structural issues that are most likely very profitable to a small minority.

You can’t properly extract value from and exploit customers when somebody else is giving customers exactly what they want. How rude!

Reminds me of the study with loud cars .
“We found that it was sadism and psychopathy predicting who wants to modify their mufflers, who feels more connected to their vehicle, and [who thinks] loud cars are really cool,” Schermer told CBC News.
“It seems to be this callous disregard for other people’s feelings and their reactions. That’s the psychopathy coming out and it’s also they probably get a kick out of enjoying watching people get startled.”
- Comment on Sound of silence 1 month ago:
They had a guy like that at a work site. In the end somebody ground down some of the graphite part of a pencil and sprinkled that down the openings of his boom box. It short-circuited when he tried to switch it on the next time and there was silence after that.

Same with cyberpunk lore. Often that reads like current events, but in the end it’s extrapolation of events back then mixed with knowledge of history.
