- Comment on Where did the conspiracy theory that America was behind 9/11? Was there any evidence to back up these claims (real evidence)? 1 day ago:
Me too. They just had a great way of narrating and all the Egypt stuff was interesting. In hindsight you can see however what kind of unscientific trash Zeitgeist was.
- Comment on How has Apple tricked so many people into believing that they "just need to get another Apple product"? 1 week ago:
I think there are many reasons, some of them are:
- Apple has a very straightforward design that is instantlyrecognizable. People love that, it’s the same people who want to have a "great unboxing experience"
- They combine hardware and software - it is not Apple vs Android but Apple vs Samsung, Motorola, Sony and whatever; on the mobile and desktop market there is so much crappy hardware. Apple users just buy the BigMac they already know, even if there are much better burgers around
- you always never get pure Android, it is bloated by phone manufactures. You have the Samsung app store and the xiaomi app security checker and other bloat.
- Apple knows marketing very well, they tricked their customers into thinking apple cares about privacy. If you only have the Google surveillance mother ship as an alternative, they rather choose the product that promises to care about their data
- Windows is a huge pile of crap. It is such a frustrating and bad OS that has annoyed people for decades. Yes there is Linux, but it usually does not come preinstalled
- apple users join a cult when they buy Apple products. It is very important for people to “be different” or to "be smarter"
- by paying a higher price, people have the feeling of buying “premium” (which by itself is a marketing word)
I could go on and on and on. I have never used an apple product in my life and am a Linux FOSS enthusiast by the way. But I think it is pretty east to understand.

I have French A1, Spanish B1/B2 and English C1 levels, while being a German native speaker. It will be hard for me to really comprehend Spanish written books that are not written specifically for teaching language. In English I can read more difficult non-fiction, but I need to look up some terms every few pages. Hell, even me being a native German speaker does not mean I understand every German book.
with understanding not only the contents written but infer on the novels concepts and relay reading comprehension akin to a native speaker
C1/C2, leaning more towards C2.

I specifically made sure there are cheap alternatives to the original heads before I bought my tooth brush. Many companies didn’t enshittify because they were shit from the beginning.

Did you activate the environment before running your Python script using
source venv/bin/acticate? Replacevenvwith the directory of the environment. - Comment on Can someone help me get Pygame working? 3 weeks ago:
Never use your system Python. It is used by your OS and should not be tempered with. Use a virtual environment instead. Read this whole comment in stack overflow stackoverflow.com/…/how-do-i-solve-error-external…

What is the statement here? The Jews™ and the collective West™ influence LLMs with propaganda and consequently calling you an Antisemite because you hate Jewish people is wrong?

I have flexible time fortunately, which means I can start later if I have a doctors appointment. I make over hours most of the time so I can use those for these kind of events. Also I reduced my weekly working time to 80%
It’s a privileged situation, but it is the only way to keep me sane. I can go shopping groceries at 3:30 instead of 5 or go to the gym earlier, it makes huge differences.
- Comment on A server and a web server are different things ? 5 weeks ago:
A web server is a specific version of a server, that serves the web, usually via HTTP. But there are much more a server could be. It could serve via SMTP and would be called a mail server. Or it could be an application server in the enterprise business domain. This means a web server is just a special form of a server.

I have been to Croatia 2 years ago, drove to Zagreb via night train, rented a car and immediately drove to the coast. Keep in mind I really despise big cities and tourist stuff.
I have been with my girlfriend and we visited two small villages along the coast that were not too touristy but had nice beaches. We really liked it.
The highlight of our visit was the Plitvicd National park which was one of the most beautiful nature I have seen in my life (you need tickets). Also the roads to Plitvice have been very nice. We spontaneously did one other activity - there is an old Yugoslavian underground airbase close to the Bosnian border which is a huuuuge lost place. We booked a guide who went with us through the tunnels for 2 hours, I’ll never forget that experience!
Then we went to Split for one night, just for going to one of the islands, in our case Hvar. We spend almost a week in Hvar and had a really good time although it was way to warm.
Split was alright but pretty ugly, you have the typical tourist stuff, the residential area is not really worth it. It is pretty funny to watch the rich people in the port area though.
Dubrovnik was a pure tourist hell. Yes historically interesting, but pure tourist hell. I would never come back again if it wasn’t another pandemic or so, but people like different things.
That was a short summary of our trip, ask me anything if you like!

I don’t have a problem with a meme repost from time to time. But this is !mildlyinfuriating@lemmy.world, people post things that annoy them and typically users engage with the post, ask questions, be angry together etc. If it is reddit repost we are engaging with the void. It is similar to reposting personal things such as AITA, relationship advice or whatever the fuck it is now called on Reddit.
