The fun thing is that we’d be expected to pay between 15 and 20 percent on such an order.
Comment on Lawful evil
lokalhorst@feddit.org 3 weeks agoIn Germany it’s pretty common to tip a bit, even if not nearly as much as in the US. I wouldn’t know what to tip for a 300€ order though because… What the fuck, did they order cocaine?

Tipping in percent. Seems almost too metric. How many quarters to the foot gallon is that?
Wizard_Pope@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
Fuck if I know. 5€?
HerbGrower@slrpnk.net 3 weeks ago
300 is a round number already though. So no tip? 298.56 I could see rounding to 300 though.

0.5% - you might as well not bother as it’s almost more of an insult than not tipping at all.
HerbGrower@slrpnk.net 2 weeks ago
Its more about going to a round number so no bothering with change.

Yeah you see this is why we’re calling tip culture toxic, if it makes you unable to appreciate someone doing you a favour, no matter how small, you are the problem, not the others with their weird “minimal wage actually sufficient to live” society. Most often, we tip 1 or 2 euros to our waiter if we enjoyed our meal, as a small thank you, and because we know they can otherwise get paid a true living wage just from the price we paid in the first place.

I would try $5, they might not understand our currency
Wizard_Pope@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
No fuck them I say. They cannot even be bothered to tip in € when they come here. If I ever visit their godforsaken land again I will tip them in € out of spite

Pick one of the old currencies that is no longer in circulation. Leave them 500 lira.
