As a person who check all cheese in the supermarket for this. The current state (EU/NL) is almost 60%, 60% of the cheese in our supermarket is without murdering baby cows. Which I up from last year, and it has been trending up for a while.
I have no clue how other countries are doing, my guess us worse. Some france people still label ‘Fish’ as ‘Vegan’
- Comment on Why Should I... 2 days ago:
Fun fact, cheese is not always vegetarian. It can (quite often) contain animal rennet (from the inside of a young cow stomage, the cow needs to die for this)

For German Dutch is does seem to do it directly. But I think it mostly is because a person has put in the effort for it.

- Comment on Google Maps Reviews in Germany are utterly pointless 3 weeks ago:
In Germany there some companies who after a few months just “force provement of visit” on all low reviews. And then the person who post the review is required do fight back and upload a receipt of the store. It’s verry annoying to find real good stores

I have the problem with Google Assistant in Dutch that I asked for “speel muziek x” and it just starts to spel the words.
I’ve been moving to Music Assistant with nodes that use Nabu, so all local and it actually tries to do what I asked it for

I have a prediction. The sun will not run out in our lifetime and will keep on shining. Oil might be a problem, and become scarce

- Comment on Could heating oil subsidies be reduced or replaced with subsidies for installing electric heating and houses.? 1 month ago:
Our tax on natural gas is already higher than electric. If we buy the same amount of heat in a whole year (not accounting solar panels) we would save about €200 per year (almost 20%).
We have also bough an heatpump for €7000, of which we get abour €2300 as subsidies for a heatpump.
To answer your question, yes it could. But a knife will always cut on both sides, and people will always be unhappy about a change. But in this case the world would benefit from it so I think we should but more tax on non-renewable and put less on renewables
- Comment on Ok to dual boot Linux and Windows 10? 1 month ago:
Make your life easier, use seperated drives. Windows will “auto repair” (translate to ‘Wipe linux’) sometimes. Also a lot of windows issues with the updater not liking that there is another OS available at boot. But it is functional when booted
- Comment on Why are plug sockets region locked? 1 month ago:
For a better seperarion. You examples (laptops consoles phones) all run DC, meaning they Need to turn AC to DC, needing a PCB who does it who not design it for world use? For fridges, washing machines, dryers, they run on AC, they are cheaper to make if they just don’t have a PCB and run straight on AC.
Also note that EU kettles can run on USA network, they will just be horrible slow heaters (they are slower with about 230V/110V = ~2x)
- Comment on Why doesn't Android save app memory into storage instead of killing the process in RAM? 1 month ago:
Indeed, RAM is a memory latch by use of a capacitor. And on an interval it replenishes the charge of this capacitor . Thus when there is no power it will lose all its data.
These days it is possible (and Android has/does this) to just write old programs from RAM memory to the SSD, this is a slow process back and forth. But it saves RAM space and power.
- Comment on Why doesn't Android save app memory into storage instead of killing the process in RAM? 1 month ago:
I believe in the developer setting you can set up howmuch you wish to store in memory and such. But this has an impact on your battery life.
- Comment on What is negative voltage? 1 month ago:
Correct.
A good ‘at home’ example is your computer power supply
- Comment on What is negative voltage? 1 month ago:
This explanation is good indeed.
Sometimes you design a circuit where the main chip runs on +3.3V reference to the chips ground at 0V, but somewhere in the proces you end up with an extension board that wants 5V below the ground. For easy of use we just call this -5V instead of renaming everything to 0, 5, and 8,5V. Renaming also has the drawback that I like to measure everything reffering to the ground of the main chip. So I personally just don’t rename and keep my reference there.

I have so far had 4 advance replacement (get new hardware, ship old hardware back later) for free. Even outside warranty period. And this story is the same for all my friends as far as I know off.
So I guess we both had quite some different experiences

Does it also come with HDMI CEC?
-
Does it come with good basically lifetime support?
-
Would it get developers optimise for that exact hardware?
-
Would it run as quit and efficient?
I’d you just going for raw hardware speed. And don’t care about anything else. You can always make a faster system yourself.
But I know enough people who don’t dare to touch anything near a computer, who are looking into this cube

- Comment on If you work with food, how can you control yourself so you don’t eat it? 2 months ago:
The idea of such boss probably is “they are probably making to much good, in the hopes it comes back and they can eat it themselves”. I do not agree with this idea, and there much better ways to control it if they wanted to.
Nobody should cook for a trashbin. ‘reuse repurpose recycle’ it should get a better end imo.

Sensor? Home Assistant? Howmuch is good enough… HA sensors
BTW just in case, I think it was TechnologyConnections who did a video of a fan. But the air from a fan creates friction with more air, and you can get way more out of a fan when it’s surrounded by more air (so don’t stuff it in a carton window hole)

For anyone looking for some cheap help tips:
-
Block the sun from cumming in, by hanging a curtain or bed sheets on the outside of the window. Of course real shutters would be even better, but price and price wise this gets you there.
-
Close your windows in the morning BEFORE 8:30 or so. Open then after 20:00 but only if it’s colder outside. Keep them open during the night. You can not cool a house down with warm air. Yes it’s warm inside, but it’s even hotter outside so opening a window during the day does not help you. If you like a breeze, buy a fan
