  When that was thrown out, HOAs were a work-around (I’ve been told. Not completely sure how they could just veto a sale to someone with melanin).

  Today, they manage communal property and services (eg landscaping and community pools). The little Hitlers will also put some light fascism in the rules. Some understandable like leaving trash cans out indefinitely. Some less so like exterior paint colors.

  I’m generally not a fan of HOA for single family homes, but I’ve yet to hear of an alternative for multi family buildings (“condos” in most of America). How else do you decide what gets done to communal space?

  Probably astrology since it’s a myth based on the three stars in Orion’s Belt which “follow” Sirius, the brightest star. In many places, Sirius dips below the horizon in late winter and reappears in the new year.
