I knew a psychiatrist who would complain about how stupid her patients were. These were people in crisis whose problems often repeated themselves due to the environment. But as a well off boomer who never had to deal with cost of living pressures in her life, she had no concept of their life’s problems and just saw all these suffering people as idiots who don’t make good choices.

“Everything was fine” as in it was a moment in time where things seemed calm and normal. But I was still carrying a weight inside from suppressing my feelings.
He had a habit of putting me down in front of our friends and making fun of things I liked just to get a rise out of me. That was something I carried with me for years and had tried to talk about before which resulted in a heated argument as well.
Knowing the danger he presented when talking about things while driving as one example, I waited until it was a moment I thought would be safe.
Turns out there was never a safe moment with that guy.

Oh yeah I’m 100% for consequences and proportionate punishment for people who hurt others, especially those who commit genocide.
Part of the conservative counter culture is to not only minimalise and invalidate accounts of wrong doing, but to confuse the situation so much that consequences can never reach the offenders. That’s why I think it’s important to specifically de-couple nationality from accusations of wrong doing.
It’ll be the same in a few years when the equivalent of Nuremberg happens for American fascists. We should not assume everyone in the United States was a MAGA, but there must be consequences for that group and they must fit the [international] crime.

These movements did a lot of work to blur the line between national identity and the fascist racist agenda of the day. I think it’s as important to clarify to everyone that South African doesn’t mean apartheid supporter and German doesn’t mean Nazi.
I have a friend whose dad is a German WW2 survivor. Whenever my childhood friend talks about Nazis he calls them Germany… Which is so upsetting because today’s Germans might have some things to say about that association!

I’m ok with Thorium Salt reactors. I believe it was Taylor Wilson who suggested they could even use recycled nuclear missile payloads for this system.
Sustainability is relative. It might seem OK for a very long time. Until a future Trump comes along and rips up all the “nuclear red tape” and it leads to a global Chernobyl disaster. At that point, let’s just keep burning the petrified dinosaurs till more boomers die.

Public trust in governments and the private sector is at an all time low, all around the world. And that’s an earned reputation.
Nuclear energy is a promising solution, but there are risks associated with it that cannot be ignored.
Can you trust a government that can’t even feed it’s poor and house them to properly dispose of all nuclear waste used at scale? I doubt it. Even if it’s done right for a while, that handling will erode because everything in our system does. That’s the problem.
The question isn’t just efficacy of the technology. It’s implementation. Execution. Maintenance. Long term sustainability.

They also claimed to be for small business. But their concept of small business was inheritance class, angel investors, tech start ups and using family money as a launcch vehicle. They don’t consider entrepreneurs, career professionals or family run brick and mortar operations within their equations when they say “we need to help small business”, their concerns stop at ensuring tax cuts for ownership, inheritance and wealth, not for incentivising business risk taking, producitivty and market excellence.

When I used to have to go to church as a kid, I’d imagine I was starting a new save file of Zelda Ocarina of Time.
