- Comment on Why do doctors not seem to give a fuck about pain? Is this just an American doctor thing, or is it universal? 2 hours ago:
I’ve stopped seeing doctors in person for the same reason. I only do virtual appointments.
Can you do any alternative to the IUD after it’s removed? I’ve never considered one and did any other alternative I could. I have endometriosis so did birth control then hormone blockers when those stopped working. I had my tubes removed for birth control. At some point I’ll have my ovaries removed if the hormone blockers stop working. I’d rather just throw everything out than have to do an IUD. Medicaid had covered the sterilization entirely.
I’m sorry you’re dealing with this.

I got surgically sterilized because the pain from that was less than what an IUD would have been.
The only pain I felt was for the initial IV stick. After that it was nothing.
I will refuse any painful procedure that doesn’t have adequate pain relief. I don’t care if I die.
Medicine keeps getting away with this shit because women just accept it. Endometrial biopsy? Only if I’m completely out. If not I guess I’ll enjoy my hospice drugs while I’m dying.
IUD? Lol I just cut my shit out instead.
I’m too fed up to live through this shit anymore. I have no kids IDGAF.
- Comment on Do you think that Trump is being blackmailed? 1 day ago:
Absolutely.
His ego is way too big to be putting up with Israel’s antics with Iran and Lebanon otherwise. Israel is making him look like a clown and he normally wouldn’t stand it without at least 1 massive meltdown on social media about it.
- Comment on What hot af take do you have that you think you will be HORRIBLY executed and shunned from society for? 5 days ago:
Mandatory homework needs to be done away with for students. Studying after school is one thing, but assignments that can’t be finished during school hours shouldn’t be given out. Give them 1 free hour a day at school to work on assignments if you need to.
Not every student has a home environment set up for being able to concentrate. Plus it’s just training kids to work off the clock and having no separation of home and work life, something people already struggle with. We should be teaching them boundaries about these things.

Pay for the highest tier plan of Claude and ask it to make it look more like a human wrote it.
Real answer: Your university is being ridiculous. They should be using a digital proctoring service while you guys do your papers if they’re that serious about it. Detectors will never work. We aren’t allowed to make flat accusations of AI use, but a high result would make us look at the paper and see if there were any other irregularities or talk to the student to make sure that can explain the paper. It’s not a free chance to just toss the paper into a cheating bin.

The Facebook population won’t, but all the cool people who made 2014esque Reddit good will or already has. Lemmy will never be the front page of the internet.
- Comment on What are the solutions to doomerism, and that "can't find love" feeling that I've been seeing on Twitter (specifically a frontend)? 4 weeks ago:
Finding love: You get a hobby that you participate in with other people. You have to be friends first before entering a relationship because why would you want to be with anyone who isn’t your friend or doesn’t share the same interests you do?
Everything else: Yeah we’re fucked
- Comment on If AI is so smart, how come it doesn't track the time and date? 4 weeks ago:
AI is only active when it’s answering a prompt then goes inactive again. It has no concept of time.
It’s training data is from 1 set time with the date in there, so that’s all it ever sees.
It can Google the current date and time, but it’s just guessing and only does that when requested, otherwise it assumes it’s the date of its training data.
- Comment on How are you using your laptop (with internet) that still runs Windows10? 4 weeks ago:
I’m running 10 with no security features as my main gaming system. I turned off as much of Windows defender as I could because it was slowing down texture downloads in Second Life + was trying to say my fan control software was malware.
I hope I get a virus because it’ll be the final tug I need to fully cover to linux. I just converted a 10 year old laptop to linux mint to run as a server since everything is getting enshittified and requiring monthly fees, like Mint the budgeting app, so I’m dipping my toe into self-hosting.
I have nothing to lose.
- Comment on Why don't people complain about Gary Stus? 5 weeks ago:
There are more Mary Sues than Gary Stus in fiction because women aren’t written as people I’m a lot of media, so they aren’t allowed to have the realistic flaws that keep them from being Mary Sues.
Light is a power fantasy, but I wouldn’t call him a Stu because he’s a megalomaniac and has an actual personality. He also fails at the end.
Stark has his own personality issues, but some of the TV shows fail to highlight those so he does come off as a Stu.
The biggest Mary Sue and Fary Stu genres are romance where you’re supposed to self insert, so the MC has to be very plain and boring and just like the reader or viewer. Romance novels for women and harem anime for men.
- Comment on What gaming console you owned disappointed you the most and why ? 5 weeks ago:
It was such a long time ago I just remember more of the vibes than the solid reasons I didn’t like it.
*The levels weren’t as open as 64. It felt more guardrailed. There was a lot less exploration.
*My favourite thing in 64 was getting flying caps and flying around which wasn’t a thing in Sunshine.
*64 had a darker, more mysterious tone that felt a lot more meaningful and Sunshine felt very frivolous
*cleaning up the sludge wasn’t a very fun minigame for me, it was a weird villain
By itself it was probably a good game but it shouldn’t have been a Mario game.

I had got it solely for Twilight Princess but that game was a huge letdown for me too.

Gamecube.
The other consoles were pushing for more, but instead the Gamecube only cared about being small?
I was fresh off Nintendo 64 so I was expecting Banjo-threeie, other awesome Rare games, a new Mario, the new Zelda, and finally a Pokemon game on a modern console!
Hahaha
Mario Sunshine was such a bad game that had none of Mario 64’s soul I never touched another Mario game after that. I hated the art of Zelda Windwaker and that it had lost all the dark vibes, and obviously none of the other games I was expecting never happened. I felt completely scammed for being loyal to Nintendo. I taught me to never be loyal to a brand.
The one and only game I enjoyed on that system was Metroid Prime, but as a child I was only allowed one new console like every 5 years and I deeply regretted not getting a PS2 instead like my friends.

Overwatch ranks in the top 15 and that still wasn’t good enough for Blizzard to not chase out all their good devs because the numbers weren’t as high as they promised their shareholders.

Nintendo isn’t doing much better. I was a Nintendo stan for most my youth but now they’re the leaders in stagnant games and dark patterns. You just can’t trust corporations not to backstab you anymore. Indie and opensource only for me here on.
- Comment on Steam Hardware [new Steam Controller, Steam Machine, and VR headset Steam Frame, coming in 2026] 7 months ago:
I was one of the haters when it first launched because I was on dialup at the time and physical discs I bought were forcing me to install steam AND THEN install a massive patch that did not work on dialup. My first day playthrough of Skyrim was ruined because of that. Took a week for that shit to download even though I went physically to a store.
But now Steam is the last man standing between us and corporate greed.

I use a quest 2 headset through my desktop via desktop streamer for VRchat. Would this all work on linux? it’s already a pain on windows.
