Former immigrant, current British person here.
Almost everyone who complains about the BBC I can tell didn’t grow up with absolutely no options other than commercial crap.
Having not just a channel but an entire service that is as free and it’s motivations are not to convince you to buy something, is incredible.
My children were raised in a place where we had an option to access and free programming where I can be reasonably certain the people behind it are not motivated by pure evil.
I’ve lived with and without the BBC, I am very critical of it in many ways, especially it’s coverage of the UK gov and controversial topics, but if it’s allowed to be killed off it will be a monumental loss to the UK
