It was a controversial decisin because iirc Motion Twin stopped development to produce Rogue Prince of Persia, not because they couldn’t, and didn’t allow anyone else to continue development.

III, VC, SA, IV and even V are some of the best games of all time. No need for new ones

Patents are not intellectual property and they are regulated by the patent office. Intellectual property is not regulated and cannot be blanket dismissed.
We just need someone competent on patent offices
