- Comment on We'll probably never see a Grand Theft Auto set in a futuristic city like GTA 2 because the team "hated it": "People didn’t connect with the game or its city" 6 days ago:
Weird article. GTA2 came out in 1999. That’s a long time ago. I doubt most of that team still works there. The idea that they had an issue making it somehow meaning that, over two decades later, the same issues will remain is an odd conclusion.
It’s just a weird comment, I get what he’s saying back then, but Saints Row had multiple games come out in pseudo-futuristic setting that were batshit crazy and fun to play, so obviously it can be done.
Lets be honest, we won’t see a futuristic GTA at this point because shark cards are a money-printing machine and Take Two will never approve anything like that because it would be too risky.

Sonic sucks.
The guy is supposed to “go fast” but the levels are absolute nonsense that inhibit your ability to “go fast”, and then once you play the game enough (which you shouldn’t) to memorize the levels (what a waste of brain matter) and “go fast”, the game ends quickly because you “went fast”.
Fundamentally terrible games. People who like sonic are weirdos.

I know I’m wilding but I actually liked the launch game more than what it became. But that says more about what I look for in a game than the quality of NMS. It objectively became a better game than it was at launch, but it pivoted to become more of a crafting and building thing than an exploration game…. And I’ve been done with crafting and building for a long time

I couldn’t give two fucks about the sanctity of some bloody leaderboards, just let me play the blasted game offline without making it out to be some kind of gods damned crime worthy of multiple popups warning me how you “Make a distinction between online and offline play” How about you fucking don’t No one NO ONE is going to pour through the annals of history in 509 years time to find out who topped the leaderboard in the Sapienza level of Hitman. ITS A SINGLE PLAYER FUCKING GAME Stop taking leaderboards so bloody seriously.
Anyways, great game, ten out of ten, probably a top ten all time. Probably would be a top five if it wasn’t for having to sit through loading screens just to play it offline.

The funniest part is it became even more difficult to comprehend when they folded it all into one game, it was easier to just buy the fucking games when they were 1 - 2 - 3.
- Comment on Last Epoch players turn on the action RPG for announcing a paid DLC class, tanking its Steam reviews: 'go play Path of Exile instead' 5 weeks ago:
Hoping to cover costs solely from cosmetics is a pie-in-the-sky fancy and they knew that, the only way that works is if your game blows up in the way that only those rare, 0.01% of games do. Saying they expected that to work out was some fucking bullshit. I sympathize with their plight, it’s obvious that if the options are sell DLC or shut down the studio, you sell DLC, but it shouldn’t have happened like this.
They were dishonest at worst or brutally naive at best from the start. I’m willing to accept that latter simply because these were originally Reddit people who wanted to make their own mark on the genre, but it’s still inexcusable. I have zero involvement in the industry and I could tell you that was not gonna work out.

Ubisoft is a textbook example of what happens when you pin your companies revenue on a small handful of IPs and milk them to the absolute fucking limit. I like assassins creed, but I’ve played enough of them for the rest of my life. Make something new my dudes.

Loot boxes should be banned and in game currency needs to be banned as well. I’m so tired of this just accepted practice of scamming people out of money with shitty in game currency prices.

I tried to get into it a few times but when you’ve played a couple thousand of hours of the Souls series, it came off a cheap imitation.
I bounced off the new one right away. It sounded fun on paper but the big lantern mechanic was over sold and not fun.

It seemed more like “we own this name and it’s pretty edgy and marketable” to me. The first one existing (and being complete and utter shit) probably didn’t matter to anyone on the publishing side.

I don’t even hate the Ubisoft formula, but it’s, like, dawg…. Try something new. I go years without being interested in the schlog, then I get really into one. But it’s astounding that they’re still putting out the same game for over a decade now. The trimmings might be a little spruced and fluffed here and there but the core loop is still the same fucking game, again and again and again.
- Comment on Public transit in Chengdu, China versus Toronto, Canada 5 months ago:
I do think there needs to be a shift in how the government invests in this country, but the answer isn’t “let’s go authoritarian”. Governments need to stop looking for big, complicated answers though and realize that production and growth comes from within, and improving mobility increases production, simple as that. You can invest in industries till the cows come home, but the optics of giving tax breaks and incentives to companies when it takes John 2 hours to drive to work is never going to be good.
