Why should they? From their perspective, listening to someone they already don’t respect for a couple minutes is hardly a high cost to pay for the power they’ll wield. They don’t fear anything she’s saying, there’s no worry about repercussions. He obviously doesn’t believe in the bible in the sense of personal sin and shame. The bible is just a tool for condemning and controlling others. The lessers.
So she shows up, she gets a few minutes of viral fame, they shuffle some papers around, and nothing actually happens.

It’s like, I just woke up and am reminded that everything I’ve worked towards for half my life, the last 40 years, is meaningless and the struggle and anxiety will continue with no end for another 40 years.

I guess… to me “Lollipop Man” man sounds pejorative. It’s normalized to you, because, as you said, that what you grew up with. The thing my mind immediately connects it to is “Lollipop Guild”, Wizard of Oz. Makes it sound belittling/emasculating to call a grown man that.

not really. It’s a shadow of itself at this point. The most noteworthy thing about it is the trivia knowledge that it sparked many research papers as a model of hyperinflation. But the forums themselves are dead. The minigames were entertaining at their inception, in the days of Shockwave games… but nowdays… you’d be more entertained just pulling down Terraria or something
