It’s a bloody deathwatch. It’s a country which could either crash and devolve, or get out of its own morass.

Unfortunately it became big because it is more convenient than having several separate tools for using the Internet.

10-15 euros is a large amount of money where I live at, it would feed a family of five for a day.
You’re living in a country where nearly everything is accessible in 15 minutes of walking or less, and I guess your local resto serves cheaper food. However, I also guess there’s some inflation going on and/or higher cost of living, that’s why you see fast food restos as being more expensive, although they do exist partly because of convenience, especially if in a car and a drive-thru makes it faster to grab whatever lunch or dinner.
- Comment on What's it going to take to truly stop the US? 1 week ago:
The best answer seems to be what most smart countries are doing right now… slowly unwinding their dependency on the US and finding alternative suppliers for everything critical they need so they can get the leverage they need to criticize and resist. This has the added benefit of isolating the US economically, reducing its currency’s ability to influence things.
What Mainland China is trying to do: win countries deemed to have been alienated by the Americans.

What’s like to be a prisoner of world events.
- Comment on What's it going to take to truly stop the US? 1 week ago:
What’s going to stop it? Short of a new world war, total economic collapse following government and corporate irresponsibility, man-made disasters, and greed in general – once they get rid of the controls, the checks and balances, and emasculate the agencies like SEC and laws that are supposed to limit corporate irresponsibility and enforce civil rights.
However, Mainland China is highly likely to fill that global power vacuum once the US collapses, and where I live I can still feel its heavy influence in terms of voluminous imports of cheap goods, and it’ll continue to loom larger over my people even long after I go out in this existence.

How the bastard used to be seen as a fucking buffoon, a caricature of what crass capitalism was. So much that he was more entertainment than actual business acumen.

While there is human moderation, much of it is being subcontracted in developing countries and those who do work there usually end up with some burnout or worse, PTSD due to violent content (i.e. CSAM, gore, porn, etc.)
Yeah, and that one flew under the radar.

because at the moment Reddit is now mainstream, and reactionaries are taking over (FU spez). Therefore much of the far left and anarchists deemed “violent” by spez have moved to Lemmy and Bluesky and made it their safe space for mostly politically-charged topics, topics that spez or fucking Muskhead would kill off.

Blame the suits, they got into the video game business once Atari became a household word.

They see modding their games as a shameful behavior
They also think modding is a form of cheating, as in supposedly breaking the game mechanics, forgetting that some games are good visually but have awful difficulty or needing more immersion.

Simple living. That work should be treated only as a means to live, rather than allowing work to consume the individual.

Goddamn. Channel got killed because of dumb logic.
What’s worse is that for years YT stopped using human moderation and instead relied on some bunch of bots and a handful of third-party IP bounty hunters (like “Remove Your Content.com”) to carry out copyright enforcement.

Turnover is so fucking high in that industry, anyone working in there now would have their CVs ready in case they’re marked for retrenchment or layoff. Given the suits constant desire for pure profit, anyone wishing to apply for the big leagues should be thinking twice about this.
