- Comment on I am only now discovering the sheer addictiveness of Sid Meier's Civilization. 1 week ago:
I’ve played the first five Civ games and I have fond memories of buying units with diplomats! There’s also FreeCiv which is an open source project that’s very similar to Civ2 but probably supports modern hardware better. It’s been built for android but from what I understand they’re built by third parties so if you’re tech savvy or feeling adventurous you could build it yourself. I played it many years ago in a really rough state where nothing was explained and my own knowledge of Civ 2 was the only thing that made it playable but from what I have heard it’s much better now.
Fun fact, Civ1 was ported to the SNES and Civ2 was ported to the PlayStation.

My wife and I both have our ownn logins on both computers, even though we tend to only use our own.

Darn, I just bought it on Steam. Well I can probably de-Steam it.
- Comment on I Bought a “Junk” PSP From Japan: Here’s How It Went 4 weeks ago:
I still have my PSP 1000. I bought it from a pawn shop with my very first pay cheque. Bricked it with an official update. Maybe salvageable, I’m a lot better at tinkering than I was back then, but my wife’s 2000 is modded and probably still working fine.

Fancy 16-ply toilet paper. That’s why they’re so worried about the rate, it costs $20 a roll.

Similarly they ported Rockbox to the RG Nano and even sort of to the Nintendo 3DS.
- Comment on GOG now using AI generated images on their store 1 month ago:
I love that one false dichotomy argument the one poster presents, where being anti-AI is anti-progress in all its forms, and being PRO-AI is the only way to a post-scarcity society. That’s definitely the only two possibilities, for sure.
- Comment on Day 556 of posting a Daily Screenshot from the games I've been playing 1 month ago:
Very fond memories of this game but it’s been so long I’m not sure it holds up. I know I’ve changed, I don’t really play shooters anymore.

I’ve saved the wax and tried to come up with a creative use for it, but I’ve never decided to make it somebody else’s problem and then make them pay for the privilege.

Persona 3 Reload. Borrowed it from the library. And on the side, some Slay the Princess.
- Comment on My PSP Scrapbook: Part Retrospective, Part Collage 2 months ago:
I had a GBA and DS growing up but a used PSP was my very first purchase with my first day cheque. The idea of playing PS1 games on the go still seemed so revolutionary to me. What a fun little device to tinker with.

I thought about GameHub when having trouble with Winlator. Read an article titled something like “I installed GameHub so you don’t have to.” Happy to hear there’s a less intrusive alternative!

I have the GameSir X2 Pro and I love it. It doesn’t fit your criteria as it doesn’t fold into pocket size but maybe this is a recommendation for the brand?
- Comment on This game is fantastic. 6 months ago:
I’m pretty sure I own it in on four different storefronts and I’ve never paid for it. It’s a lot of fun but I stopped playing before I got to fly. I don’t remember why.

An excellently written article. Scathing but I appreciate that they can see the game buried within the layers of bullshit.

That’s adorable, and I’m about you click that link but I’m willing to bet tie similarity to the word “cassette” is not a coincidence.

I second Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance 1 and 2, and would also like to mention Champions of Norrath and Champions: Return to Arms for really similar PS2 games.
- Comment on I really need these games ported to Steam. What do y'all have on your lists? 11 months ago:
I don’t recall trying to turn anything into an argument. I just wanted to know why Steam. Don’t get me wrong, Steam is good but I don’t have any particular allegiance to it. I agree that it’s frustrating that Catherine Full Body is console locked but Catherine isn’t.

I don’t currently need any games ported to Steam. Why do you? What’s so special about Steam? Or is this just shorthand (longhand) for “on PC”?

Can confirm it was a bit rough scrolling this in Boost, but interesting nonetheless. I feel like I remember Croc, but not very well.
- Comment on Nintendo Switch 2 Direct Megathread 11 months ago:
If somebody could summarise it for me that would be great. I don’t really care enough to watch it myself, but I’ll want to be in the loop enough to know what people are talking about when they reference it.

Good enough for me. I’ve installed it to my phone and I’ll probably never play it or think about it again, but there’s a chance I’ll give it a try someday!
