- Comment on Major media company asks itself why major media companies aren't exposing what's going on--"Where's Mitch McConnell?" mystery exposes media failures 34 minutes ago:
The call out to TMZ was depressing. I have no idea how we are supposed to dig out of this whole. Electing capable people is like step 1 of 100.
- Comment on "My 'Microsoft will probably be a good steward of the brand' statement isn't aging well" - id Software co-founder John Carmack speaks out after devastating Xbox layoffs 3 hours ago:
At least Arcane can create new IPs. Id Software are kind of tied to existing IPs. Doom is iconic and now its in the hands of someone who laid off most everyone who worked on it. If those developers decide to go independent and create something new that would be interesting but the loss of the Doom franchise is significant.

Yep let’s take entirety of user submitted content to the internet over 30+ years and repackage it and sell it back to you as if it was our product.
- Comment on Benn Jordan: “Leveragism” 1 week ago:
TBF there is a lot more effort being utilized to isolate and separate people, the more isolated the better. A level of selfishness then develops. If we live more communally and socially then it’s easier to have empathy on issues that might not affect us directly.

Are gamers capable of voting with their wallets? How about slasking for and supporting games that allow users to host their own servers like we had in the 90s? Are there even any games that do this any more?

Might be something future indie games can take advantage of.

Launcher aka ad delivery platform.
- Comment on Kingdom Hearts AI art accusations hit Square Enix, and that sure looks like slop to me 2 weeks ago:
The difference is a person is paid to airbrush or Photoshop. AI analyzed an existing piece of artwork someone created, copied it, then spit out a slightly modified version and called it an original creation.
- Comment on Kingdom Hearts AI art accusations hit Square Enix, and that sure looks like slop to me 2 weeks ago:
We need to get a handle on this before it becomes more difficult to distinguish. Companies have demonstrated they will sneak AI assets into development without a second thought.
- Comment on An ancient oak tree said to have sheltered legendary Robin Hood has died 3 weeks ago:
If only there was some way to put up a border around the tree to keep people from compacting the soil around the roots. Or if only there was some way to reduce campaction of the soil in the area.
Maybe they tried these things and the article just didn’t mention it but it sounds like nothing was tried and they just let the tree die.

Nice its using ForzaTech. Finally a game not using UE!
- Comment on It has now been a quarter century since Penny Arcade proclaimed that "videogames suck now". 5 weeks ago:
People think things suck in the present because they look to the past and feel things seemed better. Then in the future when things are actually worse, you realize that what was previously the present wasn’t actually that bad because you look at the current state of things and see it’s actually gotten even more shit than before. This is the downward slope of enshitifcation.

- Comment on UK: how Russia, China and US groups are spreading lies online about London 2 months ago:
This tactic is being done to many cities in the US as well to drive the narrative that liberal cities are decrepit shit holes. Wouldn’t be surprised if most cities suffer these attacks. I know I’ve seen it with Paris.
- Comment on The blue light from your phone isn't ruining your sleep 2 months ago:
That’s a small point. The larger point is people’s lifestyles. While there may be a small subset of the population that is especially sensitive to blue light for most people it comes down to your lifestyle and how and when you are exposed to light. More blue light, specifically sunlight earlier in the day is better. As evening approaches dial back your exposure to blue light. Same with the content you consume. Read the social media and bad news in the morning, less in the evening.
- Comment on Does the engine a game uses factor into your decision to buy it or not? 2 months ago:
If it’s anything other than unreal engine then no. If it’s UE then I will wait and then read about issues. If I see the same lazy bs then I’ll pass.
