I take this as a win. They know they’re losing market share, and they know they’ve lost servers.

I feel like his videos are often harmful to the open source community.
Whether or not he does this intentionally, every time he shows off some open source tool or software, he always picks at it in a way that portrays it very poorly. To the point where a lot of people in the comments will say things like “and that’s why I’ll never switch to Linux, it just sucks so bad and it never works”.
Its just so frustrating to me when people are given these misconceptions and then turn it into so much vitriol.

If you think Windows is bad on the desktop, just wait until you try the server version. Even MS knows it sucks.
Azure Linux isn’t new, but it does seem like a response to MS losing market share.

Damn they are desperate. Either in the short or long-term they are genuinely spooked, and finally they are trying to open up to the open source community.
But man they have about 4 years of convincing the communities of their good faith ahead of them if this is genuine. They gotta pull a valve to signal that they mean it before anyone believes it.

It’s important that you never assume Microsoft is acting in good faith.

That’s because they haven’t acted in good faith yet.
I’m genuinely surprised they haven’t locked out and tried to paywall GitHub already. Maybe the OS market share loss is distracting them?

Spoiler: Azure Linux, yes the one that’s been out for years
