Yes, society requires compromises, I agree. The problem here is for me that the tourism side seems to only take (space, capacity, mentally) and leave money with no regard (why would they? They paid for the vacation) to a local community. There are exceptions of course.
As long as you can moderate the influx and the way tourists are able to impact local life then I can see some kind of balance. And yes, as always we need to pay the bills somehow. And that means (sadly in our reality) sucking it up and sacrificing some kind of confort. In general, not just regarding tourism.

There is no proof in either of our posts. It is supposed to be a conversation. I state my VIEW (perfectly aware it might be wrong) and what I get is a ‘… Nah’. Provide your views in a way that we can talk about specific points and see where it leads us. If you feel like you have done that in your exchange with me then we have different expectations towards this event.
What I take away so far isn’t a win but a frustration of having sunk energy into this thread. I am not superior nor do I feel that way. I am not right because I never got a real response. Its like screaming into the void. I haven’t got an opposing view doesn’t make me right but makes me a person screaming into the void. Maybe be less void and actually engage.

So still no facts or actual responses about the specific points I made. You might regard them as wrong and they might just be that. But you will have to make a little more effort to call this a discussion or even a valid response instead of just wasting my time. When you are up for that, ill be here. Until then, bye.

Very empirical observation. You should write a paper about the study based on the vast amount of data points you seen to have gathered with quantitative and qualitative evaluation and questionnaires.
- Comment on Cool Japan 🌸 1 day ago:
So you haven’t grasped the broader point I was trying to make. The established tourism industry literally kills alternatives. Because of the inherent risk involved in trying new things people will almost always gravitate towards thr established.
- Comment on Cool Japan 🌸 1 day ago:
Its not a binary State. You don’t switch it on and there is a ready made economy. It has to develop. Needs and supplies and developing of capabilities and the expansion of all three above. It takes time. And energy. And most likely a few losses and hardship. None of these steps are bring taken If there is an alternative. Although annoying and probably not sustainable and definitely not self governed.
- Comment on Cool Japan 🌸 1 day ago:
Consider the alternatives. Capitalism is lazy. So if there is a living to be made from tourists of course people are using that as a resource. But there might be a lot of different ways to create a working economy there and its bring hindered by the incumbent called tourism.
Like we (the global north) is fucking up the clothing market for the global south by dumping (donating) our old clothing and completely destroying the chance for a working economy in that sector.
Bring on the downvotes.

Have you ever lived anywhere with a lot of tourism? Its not the specific people one dislikes but the atmosphere it creates. That may just be me.

Not race but “I am tired of tourists”-ism

as a man I can state that I (and I don’t know anybody that doesn’t) notice if a woman is not into it. Either lack of natural lubrication or emotional as well.

There are dipshits but the larger strategy towards fascism is complex and well thought out. I am convinced that there are some very smart people in the background. Stephen miller cones to mind.

The US has enough energy storage to use just renewables for all demands? Nice! I am from Germany and we are far from it.

He is right in saying that wind an solar are not constant and we need additional transmission capacity to transfer the power to where it is needed vs made. But their solution to these problems are bullshit.
Build out transmission networks and get energy storage capacity quickly. don’t cater to big oil and coal and nuclear.
They are not stupid, they are evil.

I read your and the other comment as if the poster is mocking the workers by displaying an old console system. I don’t read that into this pictogram. Did I misunderstand?

He is stupid, yes. But I think he might have been talking about electro magnets that get damaged when not properly protected. It is about the aircraft carrier that used it as a new launch system. Water, saltwater at that and there were some problems reported. I am sure the engineers are smart but a new system always has problems. Orange brain goes “bad tech” orange mouth goes “blaaargh”.

M understanding is that photosynthesis takes CO2, binds the c to the plant and emits O. (Basically)
How does that lead to extinction of algae? Like, depleting the carbon resources?
