- Comment on Young gamers in Japan may not be forming the same attachment to Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest because modern dev cycles are as long as their childhood, users theorize - AUTOMATON WEST 2 days ago:
When I was young, these were also basically the only two JRPGs that existed that I could get.
Now, there are countless thousands, and these are just two names amongst many. And FF really feels like they are just phoning it in recently for me personally.

Tainted Grail is amazing if anyone needs something with a good Elder Scrolls kind of game in a setting that’s a mix of Arthurian legend and Lovecraftian horror.

As just a random guy, I might conflate their kindness for interest because I get so little attention and positive reinforcement. No one is there telling us we are beautiful or talented or smart or whatever with any frequency, even if you have these qualities.
Your full attention already feels like more than a kindness. And the additional, actual, kindness can be taken for interest because of the paucity of people interested in “random guy”.
I don’t think women are wholly wrong for getting this type of attitude. It has to be frustrating and draining constantly fending off suitors when you just wanted a normal nice chat or something.
Just thought I’d share my older man perspective.

Or we could stop lying about what the national debt is and tax the wealthy to destroy their absurd power.

I hate our society’s fixation with ugly utilitarianism. We could be making beautiful things for all of us

Anyone that gets little attention will likely be easier to get with because they’re so unused to anything like it.
It’s overwhelming and intoxicating to suddenly seemingly be the center of someone else’s world and desires when you never experience anything like it in your day to day life. Or maybe ever.
It’s like not knowing you’ve been living in a desert your whole life and it suddenly starts to rain and you realize you’re not a cactus, you’re a willow tree and you need rain to live.

Lmfao at the super salty person.
As an American, I find all of these criticisms largely true and things I also find annoying about us and our culture.

This seems pretty obviously from cooking. If you don’t put enough of an ingredient in, it gets lost in the sauce, meaning you can’t even detect its presence.

You can sleep in the tub if there’s bed bugs. They can’t grip the surface and do not fly or jump. The caveat being if they are so bad they are climbing to the ceiling and literally falling on you.

Holy crap, this takes me back to high school when I was a gigantic party going degenerate.
My friend and I each took a box in his backyard one night because we couldn’t find anything better to do as far as drugs went.
I stared out the window of the trailer we smoked weed in for like… 4 hours? My friend got lost outside the fence. It was strange. He was the only thing that remained normal during the hallucinations. He said it was the same for him. That’s why he freaked out when he wandered out the gate because the calm center of his universe vanished.
Ah, memories of teenage degeneracy…
Definitely not a recommended trip from me, even at a lesser more “proper” hallucinogenic dose.

Having to choose a server before you know what that means or the differences between the slightly different versions of federated networks makes it more confusing.
Yes, “it doesn’t matter which server you choose,” because you can see the posts from anywhere, in theory. Except, it also kind of does matter. Places defederate from each other. If you pick a smaller instance, it may suddenly just go down and then you’re back at the start again.
Honestly, I’ve made… 5? 6? different versions of me on different instances. Kbin went down, didn’t get into Mastodon, lemm.ee went down, didn’t like Mbin as much as Kbin, tried fedia.io sort of liked it, ended up largely on piefed.social, but also like being on sopuli.xyz because it’s defederated from less and has more global content.
It’s confusing and niche. I honestly really love it even when I kind of hate it. I end up ahead of the curve in a lot of tech news because of the hardcore enthusiasts on here.

So much this. My one monitor is basically nothing but tabs open to remind me to do things like pay my bills.
And tabs with internet searches so I know what I was thinking of doing.
