- Comment on Is there a good way to import/export/migrate playlists between platforms? 1 day ago:
I used soundiiz, it costs $5 a month but i really just needed it the one month. I exported to a csv and then downloaded it all using tidal-dl and streamrip. You can import/export across a bunch of different serciservices.

- Comment on Why doesn't Steam support Android? 2 days ago:
I think it ultimately comes down to having to support another platform ads more work and risk then its worth.
For example theyd have to convince people to essentially break androids walled garden which means valve has to make sure everything they offer for android isnt malicous. Then there is the fact that phones are different specs, more testing, potential customer support … Its a whole can of worms, but valve would gain little.
Vavle is good at what they do, they have basically cornered the PC and portable PC markets already, i think not mucking around in an already monopolistic mobile market is a pretty wise business decision on their part overall.

Given the choice between gaming on your phone or a steamdeck, why would anyone choose the phone?
So i guess thats one reason why.
- Comment on Why doesn't Steam support Android? 2 days ago:
And hows that working out for epic?
Valves strategy of not doing anything new in the last decade while every other publisber shoots themselves in the foot seems to be working pretty well for them.

- Comment on I don't know who needs to hear this, but DO NOT EVER expose Jellyfin to the internet 2 weeks ago:
If my server is already open to everyone, what kind of potential attacks do i need to be worried a about? I dont keep personal files on my streaming server, its just videos, music and isos/roms. I dont restrict sign ups, so the idea of an unauthorized user doing something like download a video is a non issue for me really.
I do see where there could be problems for folks running jfin on the same server they keep private photos or for people who charge users for acess, but thats not me.
Am i missing something or is the main result of most of these that a “malicious” actor could dowload files jellyfin has access to without authentication?

- Comment on Does not the constitution say something one should not be charged or something to vote? If so then why does my home state charge 50$ to get a regular id to vote? Is that no illegal? 4 weeks ago:
If you are unable to afford the fee for a state id then you would be considered indigent and would be able to get some kind of waver for the fee.
- Comment on what are the chances of irreparable damage due to obstructed blood circulation during sleep? 4 weeks ago:
Just in case youd like a second opinion i think its closer to 7% so you might want to start making arrangements in case we need to take the leg. I know a good surgeon if you want to avoid the wait at the ER.
- Comment on If I use winrar to compress 80gb of tv and movies. Then can I compress it further by making it an iso? 4 weeks ago:
To get the maximum compression out of video you should use a video codec like av1 or hevc. WinRAR wont compress video well at all and making it an ISO is also pointless.
I would suggest checking out handbrake for a good user friendly video compression tool.
For lossless compression, things other then video/audio, you should movr to 7zip over winRAR.

A good guess but so far as i can tell they dont actually message people directly outside of the initial contact. The chat rooms are barely active but ive been idling on the matrix for days and nothing.

At some point you need to take responsibility for your insecurities and work on moving past them rather then expecting society to placate you. I’ve never met a cis-woman who was offended by “guys” or “dude”. I’ve never met a cis-man who was offended by being called “babe” or “hun” either.

How do you think companies like core civic actually get funding? The reason their stock is booming on trumps win is because the government is who’s gonna be paying for all those bunks and cages to get filled, yet I doubt many people are going to refuse to pay their federal taxes.
Your money gets used for harmful stuff at some point no matter what you do, I’m not wishing anything, I’m accepting reality, capitalism is unethical at every level, some people draw a line at prison labor while others have no problem eating chocolate from child slaves or using a iPhone made by suicidal workers in a factory that pays them next to nothing.
Unless you live the life of a monk who grows all their own food you are most likely benefiting from some kind of human exploitation, more then likely the history of the device you use to read lemmy is filled with suffering workers being exploited at every step of the way.

My not owning shares of a company doesnt make them any less bad, at least if in own shares I can vote on who is elected to the board and what direction they take things.
If enough like minded people with money wanted to do to corecivic what elon musk did to Twitter the way to do that is by owning enough stock to do a hostile takeover and force the company to shut down.

Well darn, guess I should have said Spotify. Grooveshark predated Spotify and was centralized but allowed uploading and sharing.
Soulseek is another a great place for sharing and talking about music, its one of the oldest p2p network that’s still active.

Mine stopped working yesterday too, it just needs an updated patch version. There is a new version of the revanced manager that I think requires a manual download/update first and then the youtube apk version to apply the patches on is 19.43.41

If you dig indie music from basement dwellers check out funkwhale sometime, we are building the fediverse version of grooveshark.

Well I don’t think they do cremations in groups like that. If they do then yeah there is no way to know who’s ashes, but I would also say theres no way to prove they aren’t and really in the end its all just carbon.
