I recall having a conversation with a transphobe and it coming down to me going, ‘I just don’t understand why you want to be cruel to trans people.’ He tried to brush it off but it was obvious that he was simply trying to dress up his bigotry with pseudointellectual bs.
That, and the tried and true, “I’m just concerned about women in women’s spaces. Post transition women commit the same number of crimes as men.”
Where did you read this? Can you show me what crimes they commit? Who did the study?
“Oh I can’t remember this now, can’t we have a debate about this.”
That’s when I realised that this was pointless. Because, for him, this was just a game. That the rights of trans people were something we could “intellectually” parse out. All while actual, real world people are being harassed, discriminated against and killed.
Fuck that shit. And fuck that guy.

There are many non-dildoish uses for which it may have been intended but without doubt anyone at the time would have seen the penile similarities - Dr. Martin Rundkvist, archaeologist
Brilliant.

- Comment on What is anti-propaganda? 1 month ago:
I’d like to add that Wikipedia itself, while an amazing resource, can be full of propaganda. I came across a page for an international organisation against chemical warfare and went to the edit history. Sourced additions regarding complaints by scientists on the ground in Syria that their findings were being completely misrepresented to show Assad was using chemical warfare were consistently scrubbed without any reason given.
It’s funny that I was actually looking at that page randomly while considering how to code a tool that would highlight the most recent (and therefore unreviewed) edits on wiki. I got the idea from a Defcon talk on how to counter and deal with misinformation. It’s ironic that in this instance, it was the more established editors that were propagating misnformation.
- Comment on How likely is the US government going to identify and arrest every online user who have disagreed with the current administration? 2 months ago:
Yeah they’ll arrest at random and show the brazen cruel incompetent inconsistency of the law. (I live in a country that does this).

Omg, bring back mirror Kirk and get Shatner to just play himself. Like he’s not a fascist, just make him really snarky with his trademark humour.

- Comment on Why do some people assume all immigrants are illegal and should "go back to where they came from"? Shouldn't that logic apply to all non-Native Americans? 4 months ago:
There was a 19th century political party that rose in opposition to the arrival of Irish Catholic immigrants. They had the audacity to call themselves the Native American Party. Also, known as the Know Nothings. They’re the gang that Bill the Butcher (Daniel Day Lewis) leads in Gangs of New York.

Image from Bezerk manga for those who don’t know. These kinds of malformed beings are essentially lower demons from the Bezerk’s Boschean version of hell. Great manga but deeply fucked up.
