Solid lead isn’t really that dangerous. Like with a lot of other toxins, it’s mostly only dangerous when ingested or inhaled. Licking a block or sheet of lead would cause a negligible amount of lead consumption.
While I’m not saying it was a great idea or anything, they used to make children’s toys out of cast lead, and as long as little Timmy didn’t bite his toy soldier’s head off and swallow it they’re perfectly safe, even if he was sucking on it sometimes. Hell, even if he did swallow it, he’d probably pass it with no issues.
Lead is dangerous when aerosolized, like with leaded gasoline, or in powder form, like with lead paint chips, because in these forms it is more easily absorbed by the body. Depending on the location, people can have lead bullets literally inside their bodies for decades without ever suffering from heavy metal poisoning (and when heavy metal poisoning does occur, it can take years to accumulate to dangerous levels).
Same goes for lots of other stuff - plaster, fiberglass, asbestos.

If it was a block of calcium, it would sizzle and burn a little but form a protective layer afterwards.
If you licked a pile of calcium powder, it would probably burn your tongue, stick to it, and then burn the inside of your mouth.

I remember reading an article about a month ago about how Kenyan writers were getting mad about being mistaken for AI because that’s just how they write, and the Faith emails are all from Kenya.
I’m not saying it’s not AI but that might be the reason why they sound that way.

- Comment on Record breaker Starmer is the 'most unpopular PM since polling began' 10 months ago:
I think Starmer could be considered a reformer analogous to Stolypin, or perhaps Alexander II. In some ways, Starmer would have been considered a fairly radical social democrat able to appease the working classes, in another time. But now is not the time for moderate reformers who ultimately serve the existing ruling classes.
And the people who say to “Give Starmer a chance!” are the same who, in 1910, were bemoaning Alexander II and Stolypin’s assassinations because “We were just starting to get the reforms we’ve been asking for - and you radicals blew it for all of us!”
The time for reform is over. The people demand revolution.

I would just say that North Korea and Enver Hoxha were/are based and good, actually.

If this sort of thing happened in Korea we’d be hearing of it every day for years. Unfortunately this is a UK/US Phenomenon.

There seems to be confusion in the comments over facts cleared up in the body text.
The error was mislabeling, which is the most common error in food production. They made perfectly uncontaminated Prawn and Lobster Lasagna and then put the wrong label on it. It should have been caught by quality control at the factory but mistakes happen.
Just earlier this week we had to pull a couple cases of Italian Sausage at work because they were accidentally labeled with a sell by of “Mar 15” instead of “May 15”.

Don’t worry, you’re still serving an important role in the economy!
As part of the “reserve army of labor”, by your very existence you drive down the wages of other workers in your field, based on the threat that they could be replaced with you.

My biggest complaint with how the Gowron character was written was his final battle with Worf. He fought honorably with a Bat’leth. From everything we’ve seen about Gowron earlier in his presentation, he should have fought dirty, and with knives.
