- Comment on When did it become normalized to start passing credit card processing fees to the customer? 4 days ago:
It used to be against the terms that the businesses signed with the credit card companies. This allowed CC companies to build up their market share while offloading the blame. Then in 2013 a lawsuit ended with them not being able to enforce that.

We have honey chicken commonly in the US too. It is essentially orange chicken without the orange flavor/color.

Aye, my comment was less about this shitpost and more commenting on how the same problem exists in non-shit posts.
- Comment on Is there a culture/country that doesn't have sarcasm in its language? 1 week ago:
A basic building block to humor is a subversion of expectations. Sarcasm is just stating things as the opposite of the intended meaning. Sarcasm is, in essence, the base level that most humor is built upon, and because of that is looked down on because it is “easy mode.”

But then a movement of people not doing that shit while waving the flag would offset the problem, no?

- Comment on If I subtract a semitone (100 cents) from 1 Hz, what is its frequency in Hz after that? 7 months ago:
A note, ex. A4 is 440 Hz. Moving up an octave, or 12 semitones, is doubling the Hz. You can figure out the Hz from the base note by multiplying it by 2^(x/12) where x is the number of semitones you want add.

Since noise reduction is an important part of a dishwasher, it wouldn’t make sense to overengineer a viewing window.

- Comment on What TV show were you highly excited for, but ended up quickly disappointing you? 10 months ago:
Willow, a show so bad Disney pulled it from streaming. I felt really bad for the actors. They were all quite good, just rubbish writing. It felt like someone dusted off some terrible generic YA script and doctored it up to be “willow”.

Correct me if I am wrong, but the part where they take the apps/games down is theatrics, right? They law simply removes them from app stores and has no ability to restrict their actual operations?

I’m glad this seems to be a comic book Superman and not another standalone origin story. IMO “Man of Steel” was pretty much the perfect solo superman origin story movie.

Cooks wages are integrated into the price of the food, and the waiter’s are not. But some times cooks are tipped out too.
- Comment on Anon doesn't tip 1 year ago:
Except the food cost is only a small part of what we are paying for at a restaurant. What we are paying for is the worker’s time and skills. We could, mostly, eat the same ingredients at home for much cheaper.
A lot of the other costs are small and make profit in scale.

- Comment on ... 1 year ago:
Correct, capitalism is just a system intended to prioritize capital using markets. Science is a methodology of determining truth. As a method, it is tautologically “perfect” because all failures are to be accounted for by the very methodology. The choices that capitalist systems make and socialist systems would make may be different, but the decision-making process itself could be run scientifically.
