The only thing that has really kept religion in check in this country is, ironically, their enmity toward each other due, ostensibly, to differences in eschatology. That has melted away as they have come to the realization that they are in danger of becoming irrelevant. Fortunately, the laity is extremely stupid and easy to manipulate (religion will do that to you) and have no idea what they really believe or what the differences are, so they are being led as if they are more monolithic by focusing their worship on what they all agree they love: money. They are also too stupid to realize that this is ironic.

When she first blew up all I would hear about her is how dumb she was, how stupid she was, what a lightweight she was, but everything I ever heard her say made eminent sense and sounded frankly intelligent.
These comments were largely coming from the chudiverse and Fox News, but I realized it was working when a not-conservative-minded relative of mine made an offhand comment along the lines of “everyone knows she’s not very smart.” I responded very directly with a light challenge like “oh, could you point me to something she’s said that’s not very smart because everything I’ve ever heard her say is pretty fucking brilliant.”
I knew full well this person would immediately try and dig something up - but she must’ve come up empty because now she’s a fan. I actually think she learned a lesson about how that kind of shit can work on your without you even realizing it.

Yeah as I was reading this screed all I kept thinking was “what the fuck website is this guy reading” because I’m on here every day and I don’t see anything that looks like what this guy is describing. I don’t scream or yell or fight or issue death threats to anybody, I read thoughtful shit and I ignore thoughtless shit and I live my life.
This has to be some kind of mental illness. If you find someone truly offensive, and I haven’t really - how about… you know, block them? Oh, no no, imma sit down and stealth-edit my frontend script to block them for everybody and then get all butthurt when I get caught. Lashing out and blaming everybody else - so hot right now.

A decent Diablo-like hack and slash with addictive gameplay for sure. If you get it on sale, it’s worth it if you like the genre. It does have some bad design decisions.
The bad: even when you’re not in a dungeon, the map is always pathways, not open. This plus no quest markers and only one travel gate open at a time means you do a lot of mindless looking around for stuff and painful backtracking. The procedural equipment drops are tedious though they can be filtered. Their naming conventions are overly-verbose and terrible. The soundtrack gets repetitive.
The good: the game’s skills and trees make sense and make you can feel pretty OP if you give it some effort and thought. The crafting is actually useful and you get a generous amount of storage (that can be upgraded to ridiculous levels). The lore is deep and if you’re into that, there’s a lot of it and it’s fairly original.

Well, in white Christmas, the cookie is extracted from the host’s brain and is depicted as a little round silver object that is then placed in the… smart-speaker-style container, and we see that it is an exact copy of the host and even (briefly) thinks it is the host.
It is swiftly (in the real world lol) disabused of that notion with such a horrific kick in the ass that it gladly, willingly, lovingly accepts a life of slavery over the alternative which was only barely demonstrated to it.
The other cookie in the episode, the murderer they are trying to elicit a confession from, experiences much more horrific circumstances than the first cookie (with the infinite unbreakable radio) and the humans in the real world who casually inflict this on them are depicted as being completely cavalier about it.
San Junipero did not need that last shot. It could have ended with them dancing. We all knew it was virtual reality. We all knew what was happening. If they just wanted a happy ending, then pointing us directly at the hardware that looks suspiciously like a cookie sitting in a warehouse full of cookies is to me a pretty direct statement, given that cookies are basically given hellish experiences in the only other episode they are referenced.

Well, as others have said, Black Mirror is definitely not cozy/optimistic. In my opinion, it’s easy to miss the final point of San Junipero. You have to have watched the episode White Christmas. If you’ve seen that episode, you know what cookies are and you know that there is an implication in the last seconds of San Junipero that, in my opinion, is pretty dark.
Still the best fucking episode though.

OK so I understand the Dutch have a reputation, but if you are making your ride wait on you because you aren’t ready at the appointed time - nevermind the fact that your ride isn’t charging you for gas (one hopes, since OP is going anyway and offered to pick him up, to do so would be just as rude as the coffee) - it would just be too unbelievably outrageous to bill them half a Euro. Yeah, I get it and I share much of the sentiment, but I bet this guy uses Facebook. Everybody should have some level of paranoia, but it’s the rare individual that can beat them all. Me, I’m not on Facebook or any other non-anonymous social media, but I use Gmail. Almost everybody trades off a little somewhere.

Not for nothing, but these things can be had on Craigslist and OfferUp for $20 all day long and are amazing.
2 cups heavy cream, 1 cup milk, 3/4 cup sugar - that’s it, that’s ice cream.
Flavor it how you like. Add a teaspoon of peppermint extract and some dark chocolate chips and you got Reddit’s favorite flavor - toothpaste! But seriously, add 1 tsp cake batter flavor, some colored sprinkles and yellow cake bits and you got yoruself a KILLER birthday cake ice cream. Or just vanilla bean paste and vanilla extract for the classic. Or add a shot of espresso for your own coffee ice cream. The possibilities are endless.
Put the mix in this thing, churn for 25 minutes, remove to freezer safe containers and freeze overnight.
The great part is, one batch makes about two pints and costs like… $1.50 per pint. It’s as good as the highest quality shit you can buy - and that stuff is like $6-7 a pint!
