Well, Rockstar did Max Payne 3 dirty on this, but AFAIK Remedy and Sam Lake weren’t involved. Remedy did use Sam likeness in Alan Wake, so you might be right.

Unless they make Max Payne in the likeness of Sam Lake, I don’t want it.

Did something similar when I was 11. We had to take inspiration from a picture. The picture in question was that “optical illusion” with the old lady face that kinda looks like a young lady in a dress. I wrote about an old lady that was alone, old her friends and husband dead, all her child far away. She basically contemplated her existence, waiting for her death. Teacher made us read it out loud, when I was done reading, I remember raisin my head an everyone including the teacher had this somber stare, pondering life. It was cool.

Newer aids are configured by frequency band, like an equalizer. Depending on the type of loss you experience, it would probably just improve things only where you need to, and leave the rest as is. You should try one
- Comment on Off topic 3 weeks ago:
It’s true, but if you eyesight was shit you would use glasses. For some reason people don’t like to use hearing aids. Modern ones are really life changing devices.

I have hearing loss, and from this thread I gather most of you have it too lol. Yeah, probably sound mixing is bad, but do yourself a favor and get checked. Your life quality can really improve if you treat this condition.

“Quien te dió vela en este entierro?”, en Argentina. Se puede asumir que es algo de hispanoamerica al menos. Also, maybe it’s better to translate it like “you don’t have a candle in this funeral” maybe? I don’t know if english hold a vigil for the dead like we do. Burial while is a more direct translation, I don’t think it really represents the spirit of the adage.

- Comment on Does vibe coding sort of work at all? 1 month ago:
Great summary. I would add not using LLMs to learn something new. As OP mentioned, when you know your stuff, you are aware of how much it bullshits. What happens when you don’t know? You eat all the bullshit because it sounds good. Or you will end up with a vibed codebase you can’t fully understand because you didn’t reason to produce it. It’s like driving a car and having a shitty copilot that sometimes hallucinates roads, and if you don’t know where you are supposed to be, wherever that copilot takes you would look good. You lack the context to judge the results or advice.
I basically use it now days as a semantic search engine of documentation. Talking with documentation is the coolest. If the response doesn’t come with a doc link, it’s probably not worth it. Make it point to the human input, make it help you find things you don’t know the name of, but never trust the output without judging. In my experience, making it generate code that you end up correcting it’s more cognitive heavy load than to write it yourself from scratch.

- Comment on I am a very liberal person and I have very liberal children, except for one. I'm pretty sure my Gen Z son has been taken in by fascist doctrine. What can I get him for Christmas? 8 months ago:
A turd.
If you want something that he would enjoy, Mein Kampft.
I mean, I’m sure at this point he has been exposed to most literature and works to not be a fascist, this won’t get fixed with a gift. Maybe try to have a 1 on 1 conversation with him, let him speak an express why he thinks like that, let him go deep, let him talk about his feelings. Fascism always root on untrue information and resent. If he respects you, you can then talk about where he is wrong, confront the lies, but embrace him as a person.
If you want to win your son back, it will take real work, respect, and love. These people get lied to, and they believe because they are full of resent and want an explanation, someone to pin all the problems, an enemy. Uprooting that is hard, but sometimes family and friends can do it. If family and friends deepen those core beliefs, nothing is going to change.
Source: When I was younger, I was that stupid too. Friends made me realize it.
- Comment on Why does it seem most people, mainly conservatives, against Trans people? Unless I am wrong I never heard of one shooting up a school church or whatever. The ones I have met have been pretty cool. 8 months ago:
Conservatives are afraid of change, because they control current status quo. They can’t let people escape from that control, so every nail that is a little outside it’s hole gets hammered.
In short, they rather prefer trans (and broadly queers) to hide or die, unless they can control them. Everyone different from what they can control is a big danger. Imagine if everyone could be like they feel like? Conservatives see this as chaos, they are the guardians of peace and good values, so anything not already controlled by them is the opposite, chaos, destruction, fire.
That’s why they rarely present anything new, their policies and general opinion tend to fight the natural evolution of civilization. USA, as obviously all of the American Continent, was built by immigrants (and slaves). Now they fight immigrants, undocumented ones mostly, because they can’t control them. And we know what happened when ‘the libs’ back then tried to end slavery, you know, other people that they CONTROLLED.
Thanks for coming to my TED Talk.
- Comment on Anon doubts WW2 Germany 8 months ago:
In their defense, they were so good that they started fighting everyone at the same time. That single mistake is the reason we don’t speak German right now. Current day fascists are much more fragile and stupid in comparison. If they got crushed back then, modern day ones can too.
