Exactly, and you’ll save tons of money too. ETS2 goes on sale for $5, stardew valley for $7.50, vintage story doesn’t go on sale but it’s only $22. All games that are way more fun, way less buggy, and have way more replay value than every piece of triple a junk i’ve played

It’s crazy how bad software compatibility on macos is. I used to assume it was about the same or slightly better than linux in that regard, but my attempts to help my friend play games on macos have almost entirely failed despite the fact that I have tons of experience playing games on linux since it’s always been my main os

I thought WSL1 was a compatibility layer and 2 was a VM and they were both still supported? Is WSL 1 gone now?
- Comment on Can Mac apps be emulated and run on Windows? 5 weeks ago:
She, but yeah. I don’t think it’s a good idea, but it is technically a way to run a small subset of macos software on windows without a VM, just using multiple compatibility layers instead
- Comment on Can Mac apps be emulated and run on Windows? 1 month ago:
There is a translation layer for running MacOS software on Linux called Darling. In theory you could run that in WSL. The only downside is it is in very early development and not really at all usable

Yeah krita definitely isn’t the right tool for bulk jobs. You might want to look into learning to use imagemagick’s command line tools, they’re pretty much the gold standard for bulk image tasks

I spent a couple hours setting up niri a month or two ago, and it works really well, but I just couldn’t quite convince myself that the way it works is a way computers should work, so I only used it for like half a day. I feel like I should like it, but it’s just so strange

Pretty common where I am (mid-atlantic US). I think it’s a newer development, like in the past 20ish years. I’m not sure what the reason is, the semester isn’t any longer it just starts and ends earlier

And once you’ve worn it for a while you can just take it out and then be like “wow that must have been some weird infection, it left a hole clean through my face!” And then you have the perfect excuse for the piercing existing and can switch to using regular jewelry in it because like “oh well I guess I’d better put something in this to hide my horrible deformity”

- Comment on I hate Samsung and their dumb software design choices, and this is one of them. Why do I need a SIM card to enable a hotspot whereas every other phone works without one? 5 months ago:
I’ve only seen that option on phones with two radios, it uses the 2.4GHz radio for one connection and the 5GHz radio for the other

- Comment on Trans women should use toilets based on biological sex, Phillipson says 6 months ago:
It’s actually fantastic, I haven’t used a gendered public restroom in a year or so now that there are a bunch of single person ones in my area. The ungendered ones are clean and they’re quiet and just better in every way
- Comment on Trans women should use toilets based on biological sex, Phillipson says 6 months ago:
Just make real full height stalls so no one has to share the space with anyone and all the bathrooms can be for everyone. The problem is not trans people, it’s bathroom design
- Comment on Understanding the Sex Binary 6 months ago:
If a team wants to exclude trans women who consistently outperform their competition, fine, as long as they also exclude cis women who are equally high performers. I don’t think that would be smart, but I also don’t think it’s like morally objectionable. If they want to exclude all trans women regardless of performance and not exclude high performing cis women, then it’s not about fairness, it’s about discrimination.
- Comment on Understanding the Sex Binary 6 months ago:
I also don’t think gendered sports need to exist, just have people try out and be put into classes based on their performance instead of gender. The current system is kind of unfair to everyone because there are some sports that only have one gendered team in a lot of places. Like at my university I think only men can play rugby. I don’t know enough about sports to know how to properly implement a good system, but I’m sure it could be figured out and probably end up making sports more fun for everybody. Either way, strength definitely doesn’t completely follow gender or sex, my friends who are cis women could absolutely beat me up.
