That’s going to be just like the hobbit. 6 hours of movies for about 100 pages of content. Except less

Can’t wait for the new romance between Mary and Joseph that wasn’t in the book.

Well thirty minutes in Jesus goes out for smokes and isn’t seen again for a few thousand years.
The rest of the movie is just people asking others if they’ve found Jesus yet.

Jim Caviezel has confirmed he will reprise the role of Jesus for the sequel.
So notable anti-Semite Mel Gibson and QAnon supporting sack of shit Jim Caviezel are reuniting. Hard pass.

Now’s his time to shine I guess, since the world has collectively decided that antisemitism isn’t what we thought it was, and apparently Jews aren’t allowed to define it for ourselves without the help of evangelical death cultists.
I’m a Jew who values the lives of Palestinians as equally as I value the lives of Israelis, and I will never give a cent to anything Mel Gibson is a part of.
You may think none of that is related to an old Hollywood filmmaker making movies again, but according to a new poll, one in five young people don’t believe the holocaust happened. Let that sink in for a sec. Millions of people were systematically murdered less than 100 years ago, and one in five young people are like “nah, I didn’t see it, so it didn’t happen.” Anyone who tries to tell you that this bigot making movies doesn’t matter, it does. Movies and the people who make them have significant influence on the culture.

Israel was the first to cry antisemitism when they were criticized for their response to the Hamas attack. China does the exact same thing by crying racism whenever they get called out.

American Christian evangelicals are a death cult who believe that when Isreal is ‘restored’ that Jesus will return, kill most the jews, and rapture the Christians.
Also, they hate Muslims. But they definitely don’t care about the Jewish or Israeli people.

Why is this about you? The holocaust happened and deniers are shit but what is happening currently is being supported by governments around the world. Israel is currently committing a genocide.
Mel Gibson is still a shit, the world didn’t decide antisemitism is ok but I can hope there is more backbone shown worldwide against the Israeli regime.

Well said, agree with it all.

Is the one in five from the Economist/Yougov survey? I was mixing it up in my memory with this one from the ADL on antisemitic attitudes that showed one in five people surveyed believed six or more antisemitic tropes.
I’m still a bit dumbfounded on what to do with this kind of information. It makes no sense. We literally fought the biggest war ever about this, deployed weapons so horrifying they’ve never been used again, and 20% of people are like “oh yeah let’s do it again”?!
BertramDitore@lemmy.world 11 months ago
Yeah, I got that from the Economist/Yougov survey.
I have no idea what to do with this shit either. The most concerning thing to me is that lots of younger folks have the impressive long-term thinking to understand that our collective futures are fucked if we don’t get the climate under control, but seem to be incapable of learning lessons from history. Nazis = bad and Holocaust = it happened, doesn’t seem too hard to internalize. The camps are still there for fuck’s sake. I realize I’m painting with a broad brush, but I’m not sure how else to explain these numbers.
