The first one was great, hopefully they don’t mess up this one, but I’m always cautious with sequels.

Very interesting commentary, well sourced and documented. This person clearly knows what he’s talking about. The Top Gun example is very detailed and illustrates well the thesis that CGI and practical work hand-in-hand.

basically I did a 10 minute overview of all the factions and their goals, with pictures of key people and everything 😅).
Seems like a very nice way to get into the Dune universe! I still haven’t watched the movie myself, nor read the book, but that’s on my (long) to-do list

Well, I just created one (pinged you there), we’ll see if other people want to discuss it. Hopefully there will be someone, even if at some point in the future.
A24 can be hit or miss
Which of their movies were you disappointed with?

From our member @scytale@lemm.ee
Watched “Past Lives” last night. Good movie. I like how they accurately depicted the different eras (90s, 2000s, and present). As an immigrant myself, I can definitely relate with some of the aspects of uprooting your life and making a new one in a foreign country and not knowing anyone. I guess I haven’t been away long enough to feel losing my cultural identity yet, but I do understand how some people may feel that way. That scene with the 3 leads together was definitely awkward lol.
Great ending as well and I like how they kept it less than 2 hours. Films like this shouldn’t be overly long. I feel like “Monster” is still a better film though and wish it was acknowledged more especially in the awards shows. I get that it wasn’t marketed to western audiences as much as Past Lives (being A24), but it definitely deserves the same amount of exposure.

Very interesting round table of Greta Lee, the main role, with other actresses, and especially answering a question about how it was to work in both Korean and English for the movie: www.youtube.com/watch?v=KA-r9NEI_Ts&t=700s (hopefully the timestamp works)

Funny, I discovered it yesterday and was about to make a thread about it. Do you want to make one? Otherwise, I will later and copy paste your comment there. Seems like an interesting movie indeed, and another great A24 production.

Very interesting list, seems weird to me that Terminator came out the same year as Once Upon a Time in America, I always thought the latter was older.

Another one is Everything Everywhere All at Once.
Interesting approach to the multiverse theme, solid acting (especially from actors having to play different characters), and interesting scenario that went beyond the multiverse idea to address other subjects.

I’m going to start with Dungeons & Dragons: Honor among Thieves.
Very solid fantasy adventure movie. Good acting, believable world, coherent tone during the whole thing, good cinematography.
It’s a shame it was kind of a failure box office wise, it was really refreshing.
