Fuck you’re stupid. They calibrated the rover to transmit at the resonant frequency of cheese, and being made of cheese, the entire moon essentially acted as a reflector. Learn some space history.
it's a hoax

If this wasn’t a joke the entire internet would slide through to tell you how dumb this is
CIA_chatbot@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
Oh they still will

Take a look around
The quickest way to get the correct answer to a question on the Internet is to post the incorrect answer and wait for a response.

Imagine being too stupid for a shitpost sub

On the Earth, the signal fades due to the atmosphere. On the lunar rover, the antenna is small because there is no atmosphere, and on the Earth, the receiver is a giant round structure that measures meters or tens
isleepinahammock@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 weeks ago
For example, a TV antenna transmits in all directions, while a lunar rover transmits strictly upwards
Do you know…what a parabolic antenna…IS?
Dishronor@lemmy.zip 2 weeks ago
Yes, that’s what I meant “the receiver is a giant round structure that measures meters or tens”
In your quote I was talking about a TV antenna and a directional one.

The lunar roving vehicle wasn’t doing the broadcasting though … it wasn’t even there until the last 3 missions.
Forester@pawb.social 3 weeks ago
Actually it was used multiple times for the Ascent shot except for they only got it right the third or fifth time because you have to time the camera pan with the landers thruster ratios. They would wire up a camera to the Rover which would then be relayed up to the orbiter.

Who is downvoting this obvious and well constructed joke?
gastroglizzy@piefed.social 3 weeks ago
There is no nuance on the internet.

They obviously didn’t check the community
TigerAce@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 weeks ago
Why is this downvoted so much? It’s posted in “lemmyshitpost”. The dumbest Facebook-science conspiracy junk belongs here so we can all launch at it. If this was posted in “technology” or “science” I would understand the downvotes. But here it’s just satire to laugh at. Just downvote anyone who actually believes this shit.

I think it’s because at this point in time, we can’t really tell if you’re just being ironic or just moronic, which is sad…
TigerAce@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 weeks ago
Yeah, I’m afraid your right. Really sad…
CrimeIsLegalNow@ani.social 2 weeks ago
Morons like you are why the Reddit shitposting subs are nothing but dogwhistling.

the moons isnt blocked by uncountable particels of of this weird thing called "atmosphere "
stevestevesteve@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
It’s also transmitting from a nearly radio-silent object in a direct point to point path, single channel non HD, without the equivalent of an entire television studio inside it…
CrimeIsLegalNow@ani.social 2 weeks ago
A particle is what you get when hydrogen gets told their whole life they’ll find someone and never bothers asking another hydrogen out as a result
justdaveisfine@piefed.social 3 weeks ago
Ah but you see, the bottom one is on the moon. There’s no gravity on the moon so the broadcasts fly in the air much more easily.
Then the broadcasts have to go through space, with again no gravity, then simply fall onto the clouds when they hit earth, and once they’re in the cloud they can stream 4k to the rest of the internet.
This is why they put satellites in space, much cheaper and easier internet than something on the ground.
reader@lemmy.zip 3 weeks ago
OK but not having gravity is gay
HikingVet@lemmy.ca 3 weeks ago
And?
isleepinahammock@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 weeks ago
No. Gravity isn’t gay. Gravity is pansexual. It’s attracted to everything.
gastroglizzy@piefed.social 3 weeks ago
No, it’s because the Earth is flat so radio waves just fall down to Earth from the Moon easily.
TigerAce@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 weeks ago
Rly?
What air though
Now this is true
