Awful headline, this was not an attack from the tiger, this dumb fuck willingly entered the enclosure and the tiger acted as any sane person would expect.
Happy that this twat died, we don’t need their genes in the gene pool.
Now I wish that those responsible will see the sane side of this and the tiger will be allowed to live.

What do you call it when a tiger attacks someone?

The point they were trying to make is the way the headline was written makes it sound unprovoked, as if the man was just an “innocent victim” instead of the truth that he effectively goaded the tiger into doing what comes naturally.

From what I had heard, the man had managed to get away from his carer.

Still though, even if the guy wasn’t aware of his actions, the blame should lie on the carer and the zoo for not having secure enough enclosures.
The tiger is not at fault here.

The only mention of a carer I can find is speculation.
One witness told the Mail on Sunday the man, who had a mobile phone and was wearing AirPods, appeared to ‘psyche himself up’ by performing a ‘dance’ in the spectator area.
Speaking to The Mirror, one woman said she saw him dancing with his AirPods in around 20 minutes before the horror incident.
"The man who I saw on the bridge with his AirPods in dancing was happily enjoying seeing the tiger,” she said. “He obviously wasn’t with anyone and he asked a total stranger to take a picture of him with the tiger in the background.
"Probably the last photo on his phone. I’m not sure if he was with a carer or family member but I honestly do think he just wanted to play with the tiger.

Tigers are terrifying creatures. Just because us monkeys were clever enough to get away from them and on occasion cage them for our viewing pleasure doesn’t make them less terrifying.
I remember visiting this zoo where the tiger enclosure included a thick plexiglas window where you could walk right up to the animal. One family was taking pictures of their kid with the tiger in the background, and it was quite obvious that the tiger was in prey stalking mode: bunched up, eyes wide, swishing tail, the works. I still think about that image: happy-go-lucky 6 year old with her bunny dress and a pink balloon, and death incarnate staring at her over her left shoulder.
Did I mention tigers are terrifying?

Nature produces some absolutely terrifying and ruthless creatures. As awesome and capable as tigers are, you have to at least credit them with honesty and integrity. They are tigers and will act as such, you are prey and you will be hunted, maybe for the food, maybe just for the practice. With that, one can treat them with respect and care they deserve, and everyone involved can benefit. (We’re generally a long way from that, and animals like the tiger are being royally fucking shafted and exploited, but I digress.)
People however… People fucking scare me. Capable of such great things, but so easily led by their fickle and unstable emotions. Conniving and dishonest, and as likely to shiv you (metaphorically or literally) as help you, depending on their preconceived notions of who you are. Tribal, shortsighted, small-minded and fucking angry about it.
Give me tigers any day of the week.
