That read like the AI disclaimer I see on Steam games that clearly use AI for more then what they disclaim.
Yea, those are often sus to me. Like why would you only use AI for the steam store page details? You’re gonna put all the effort of making a game in and can’t write a paragraph about it or throw some screenshots together? Seems unlikely to me.
So let me get this straight: The most important part of a game while in development; the trailer, which is basically the “game seller” thing, the element that might make me decide if I want the game or not, it’s AI slop. But somehow, you are telling me the rest of the game won’t be? I mean, even the damn presentation itself, not just trailers, was AI slop. How the hell do you expect me to believe that you are not using it for the game if you used it (and poorly so) for the event in which you were supposed to show me why should I buy the game?
‘Worked’ for Dead Island…
A recent report on Japanese online game developers claims that 100% of those surveyed use generative AI tools.
Yeah, Japan is generally not nearly as anti-AI as some other places. AI-generated stuff is all over the place at train stations, signs, restaurants, etc.
Change “Japan” to “Asia” and you are also correct. I see so much pro-AI people around me daily it feels like it’s a losing fight.
It IS a lost fight. The genie is out of the bottle - even if every AI company dies tomorrow, (an event that I would celebrate) AI isn’t going to go away. We have hundreds of open weight models all over the internet, running it on local hardware or small setups. It’s not going to go away, ever.
You should invest that time and energy into preventing the construction of new data centers and shit like that, because that’s the actual problem. I know that takes more effort than just complaining online about “Muuuh AI”, but that would actually change something.
Bummer

I honestly wonder how much AI Nintendo used for the Ocarina remake. It’s the most AI-looking game I’ve seen yet, and Nintendo has a record for cheaping out whenever they see a clear benefit and think they’ll get away with it.

Honestly, I think it’s legit. The little details seem consistent, and people have pointed out that the art makes a lot more sense if you compare it to Japanese marionettes.
