I don’t know whose fault this is, maybe DeviantArt (for example) makes it hard for web crawlers to view the tags, but it’s definitely annoying to see very obvious AI images that are tagged as AI on the website, or also sometimes on a website dedicated to AI images, still show up on the image search page.
But honestly thanks for at least trying duckies.
I use DDG NoAI and I’m still seeing AI images. The engine is supposed to hide that slop by default. I flag the images and hope they get blocked … eventually.
Unfortunately you have to get used to it, the cat is out of the bag now and it’s not getting back in.

Sadly this splits the timeline, so this version of us will remain trapped here with the cats
I consider these kinds of feature WIP, and more a partial fix than a total solution. I do think we’re slowly getting there though.

DDG uses public lists among other things, their claim.
Detection of AI is based on a list. Not some form of intelligent keyword matching algorithm.

Is there an open source browser add-on for it yet? I think this is gonna be just as vital as ublock origins is right now. The internet will soon just be unusable without filtering out AI content.

Ye, this. It’s not really their fault. There’s no protocol for responsible sites to flag AI content to the search engines. They can’t really be expected to examine each and every site’s bespoke tagging system for their specific way of declaring AI imagery. I hope that changes soon, and DDG could be the pioneers of it if they wanted.

Isn’t this one of the things that embedding C2PA in generated images is supposed to help with? Even though it predates the current AI bubble, it is a provenance system. With a quick search, it seems like many of the big players are on board already.
