- Comment on If you (a regular American citizen) had actionable, insider knowledge about the US Federal Government/Military and felt the public should know, how would you tell everyone? 1 hour ago:
I assume OP is American which is why they want advice from other Americans. Unfortunately, we have events in recent USA history to see how whistle blowers are treated.
- Comment on If you (a regular American citizen) had actionable, insider knowledge about the US Federal Government/Military and felt the public should know, how would you tell everyone? 1 day ago:
Snowden gave the information to reporters and then tried to make his way to a non-extradition country.
- Comment on What are some good, casual mobile games. 1 day ago:
I’m really enjoying 2048. I set the board to 7x7 and have been playing the same game for weeks. Current largest block is at 131072.
- Comment on For people who distrust police / the legal system: If you ran a small bussiness and need to hire people, and someone has a conviction but they claim innocence, do you hire them? 3 days ago:
One of the best ways to reduce crime, imho, is too keep a parolee from going back to a life of crime.
Likely I would hire them, depending on what crime they were convicted for. I’m not going to hire anyone convicted of a sex crime if I have women working for me, for example.
Also, depends on what evidence was used to convict. Fingerprints are unique but part of a fingerprint is not. Bite-mark identification is a joke. Eyewitness testimony is unreliable especially when months or years can pass between being charged and the trial. AI facial recognition is famously unreliable when people of colour are involved.
- Comment on If you were in Jail would you stick withe bible or be interest in other religions? 1 week ago:
Plenty of other works of fiction in the prison library. No need to read any religious book.
- Comment on The person who mounted a spice rack into the fucking studs so a fridge won't fit there 1 week ago:
WTF. Even if the previous occupants had a short fridge, who wants a spice rack over the fridge. Just bizarre
- Comment on When did Saturday Night Live get so cringe? 1 week ago:
“The word of the day is shit. Go to your mother and say shit. If she slaps you, you said it right” Eddie Murphy as Mr. Rodgers.
This is my only memory of SNL. Also, the only skit I found funny.

- Comment on The way this egg peels in infuriating 2 weeks ago:
Having peeled a loy of eggs i worked out a method that is nearly full proof.
After boiling the eggs, pour off the water, fill the pot with cold water, pour, fill again. Start peeling when the eggs are slightly warm. Often, the shell will come off very easy in large sections.
- Comment on If your son was a super wealthy multi-millionaire and lived in LA or New York, but he wasn’t famous and wasn’t close to your family members (brothers, nephews, nieces, etc.), would you tell them? 2 weeks ago:
Your extended family doesn’t have a right to know about anyones’ financial situation, therefore not a lie of omission.
- Comment on What are some good communities to follow for someone who is just getting into lemmy? 2 weeks ago:
What I did was search for similar communities/subreddits I followed on Reddit. After that, went through “communities” and subbed to any that looked interesting.
- Comment on People from or student of 3rd world nations. Is America going that way? Or do we long way to get there? 4 weeks ago:
Get a second hold of cornflakes, and don’t let anybody piss in this one.
- Comment on What is your take on organ donation? 5 weeks ago:
My take is take what you want. I’ll be dead and will have no need for the organs.
- Comment on Theoretically speaking, if one wanted to sail the seas while being not very tech savvy – is using a VPN (Mullvad) enough? I would never, of course… but theoretically? 5 weeks ago:
Currently, I’m using Mullvad and used Proton a few months ago. Surfshark did the job many years ago.
Just make sure you pair your torrent client and vpn so if the vpn goes offline, the torrent stops down/up loading.
- Comment on [deleted] 5 weeks ago:
No idea but I do know it will be something I have no interest in using.

Encrypt your hard drive.
- Comment on Is there a way to filter news on lemmy 2 months ago:
If you have an android, “Thunder for Lemmy” can filter based on keywords. I very much prefer the app over using my laptop and a browser.
- Comment on What would you do if you knew your neighbor was an ICE/DHS agent? 2 months ago:

- Comment on [deleted] 2 months ago:
Were streetcars and buses around before the telephone? I’m honesty not sure.
- Comment on [deleted] 2 months ago:
A telephone attached to the wall with a wire.
- Comment on Question for the Americans. If Canada, Venezuela, Mexico, or Greenland dropped a nuke on Washington DC, would you be angry at the bomb dropper, or would you think we had that coming? 2 months ago:
As a Canadian, I’d be pissed at the bomb dropper. I have enough problems in my life without dealing with radioactive fallout.
- Comment on Why are americans taking health advice from a former heroin addict ? 2 months ago:
Just because junior is saying stuff doesn’t mean Americans are listening or obeying.

- Comment on If the 2028 election was held today, who would you vote for? 2 months ago:
Do you expect serious answers when you haven’t said who’s running in the 2028 election? At minimum, you need to make up a couple of candidates that are running against each other.
- Comment on If the United States of America was renamed, what should it be? 2 months ago:
I.C.E.land.
- Comment on How do you fight doomerism/pessimism in these trying times? 2 months ago:
I find that finding solutions to the problems that generate the feelings of doom is a good way to fight those feelings. Have a plan or several plans. You don’t have to solve the issue just find ways to get through it easier with less stress.
Example: Where I live, the power grid is garbage. Too much money has been diverted to the stockholders instead of grid maintenance. We’ve lost power three times since Christmas. There is a storm coming on Monday and the odds favor the power is going off. I have a checklist of what to do before and during the outage which makes it easier to get through.
