The ending was what really got me. I wasn’t expecting to see him crying about helping those people.

Is this like pro-wrestling? You guys know it’s fake but still believe in it and watch it play out?
Xanthrax@lemmy.world 1 year ago
All the technology used is well known and you can replicate it yourself. Why would you fake it?

Plus it’s not far fetched to think that the scammers themselves are just as excited for their big payoff as they hope their marks get for theirs.
I don’t know whether I like this one more or the ones where they (not sure if it’s the same guy that did any of these) advance fee scam an advance fee scammer. In one case they know for sure they’ve been had, but if some of them are returning for 40 days in a row, it’s likely that some give up but keep thinking about it, wondering if they could still claim that money, if they gave up too soon, maybe it’s time to try calling again.

Am well aware of technology and no one needs to explain anything to me when it comes to that. Why fake it? Money of course. But my question is a legitimate one. It seems awfully convenient that reverse scams work every time and in convenient time slots for his stream. So I am wondering if it’s fake or not.

is it fake? he does pretty long live streams.
MeanEYE@lemmy.world 1 year ago
Not sure. Am asking the same question. Feels off, but then again am not a dedicated follower.

If the scammer is patient and working full time, the call can reach 8+ hours, and they can STILL call back the next day.

How do you know it’s fake? I’m a pretty huge skeptic of anything on the internet and don’t watch this guys videos myself but my wife likes them. Is it just a gut feeling or has this been proven?
I never thought of it before but you’re probably right, this probably is fake.

Am asking a legitimate question. Am not sure if he’s fake, I only saw few videos. At times it feels pretty convenient how things always go to plan and right on time for next stream. Then again I could be wrong, like I said am not a dedicated follower. Also I could understand his tricks working once or twice but on a constant schedule for years. I don’t know. It also feels very naive that people rarely just hang up. Why would anyone sit 20 minutes on call when they can call others who can be scammed. I don’t know. At this moment it’s just a gut feeling as all the tech used exists but using it in such ways requires a lot of effort and am not even sure some things are possible. I’d be a believer if there were scripts and code I could look at. The way it is now it’s just “trust me” this hack button totally reverse hacks into people’s networks.

I never suspected Kitboga but it could be. Jim Browning I 100% believe

Yea if you watch his videos it might seem staged but I watch his livestream while working and most of the time is spent on baiting the scammers and the videos are basically the highlight reel of his scambaiting.

Brilliant. I love how Kitboga’s tactics have evolved to this kind of sophisticated system. Purple pig.

In 20 years he’s gonna be hosting full-on Saw-style death challenges for scammers.
