- Comment on At the airport. The TSA thought my daughter's Hello Kitty carry-on was suspicious. [More in body.] 1 day ago:
Nah. At my flight last week, I pulled out my laptop to put in a separate tray. Apparently for that day, they wanted to keep laptops inside the bags. The line was so busy that when I asked if I need to remove my laptop, instead of just answering me, the agent kept on repeating “sir, what did I say? What did I say?” in an annoyed voice. And he literally was waiting for me to answer, when I didn’t know what he said because I was at the end of the line far from him. That’s not efficient.
- Comment on Is there anything my girlfriend and I have to consider when traveling to America based on our skin differences? 1 day ago:
If you’re visiting mostly tourist areas and big cities, you’ll be fine. You might notice some people doing a double take, but it should be pretty harmless. Now if you go to rural, bumfuck nowhere places, your experience might be different.
- Comment on Will getting my drivers liscense renewed mess with my employer checking my driving record? 4 days ago:
At least in my state, my license number doesn’t change even after renewing. They’ll still be able to pull your record even if you have a freshly renewed license.

Back in my home country, we were always told not to smile and have a neutral expression for government IDs. It was a surprise for me when I was being encouraged to smile at the DMV. I just said “no, I’m good”.

I unfortunately missed this game. Were the Cavs simply just too big (Allen+Mobley) for OKC?

Isn’t Gunn’s DC universe going the scifi/fantasy way? That won’t work because Reeves’ batman is grounded in reality.
- Comment on There is a fee to close my HSA account 2 weeks ago:
Yes, but until then you are parking money that you can actually use to pay for medical bills, unlike a PPO where you pay hundreds of dollars a month just to the insurance company then still need to pay a deductible anyway. Sure, a PPO deductible is lower than an HSA, and your bills should theoretically be lower as well; that’s why I said if you don’t have chronic issues or you don’t get sick often, you might be better off with an HSA. You can always switch to a PPO when the chronic issues start.
For example. In my first year at my job, I chose PPO. I was paying $400 a month. The only medical stuff I did for the year was visit a specialist twice at $35 a visit. Even if I was on an HSA and paid full price for the doctor visits, it would still be cheaper than the $4800 I paid on my PPO for the year. If I was on an HSA back then, I would’ve paid only $50 a month. If I had the same budget, then I could’ve put the rest of the $350 into an HSA tax free, and I can actually use it to pay medical bills. Also, my employer puts in $1000 for free into my HSA, so that’s an automatic $1000 less on my deductible.
- Comment on There is a fee to close my HSA account 2 weeks ago:
It depends though. If you are relatively healthy with no chronic issues (yet) and have enough saved for an emergency, it can save you a good amount of tax-free money that you can use for when you get older and sicker. That and the monthly premium is much lower than a PPO. Obviously universal healthcare is still the best option.
- Comment on Time to make your decesion 2 weeks ago:
This is correct. I use the potassium alum one and it’s fine. The people who say it doesn’t work either don’t know how to use it or are just too sweaty that they need antiperspirant instead. They are only effective for max 24 hours in a regular setting (not exercising or sweating heavily), but ideally re-apply after 12 hours. So they don’t last as long as regular deodorant or antidepressant. Just make sure to apply regularly, and wash your pits before putting it on if you’re not fresh out of the shower. I’ce ruined a lot of shirts because of antiperspirant, and now I don’t have a problem.
Unfortunately some people are simply just too sweaty that antiperspirant is necessary. Your stink level also depends on the chemical makeup of your sweat. For example, a lot of koreans don’t stink when they sweat, lucky bastards.

At this point, you’re better off going for the lunch specials at an asian restaurant. Same price, more filling, and less unhealthy.

I usually prefer AP, Reuters, and PBS. I’m sure there is still some bias somewhere, but at least they strive to report just news straight up without injecting opinion.

As I get older, I noticed that around 50% of the time, if I have a slight headache, or don’t feel right or comfy for no reason (i.e. not sick), it’s because I need to poop. Even if I thought I was done for the day, sometimes there’s just some that remains that when I go for that last round, I’m suddenly 100% feeling ok and fresh.

- Comment on Anon visits America 3 weeks ago:
I understand that. I was referring to shrinkflation specifically, where the typical regular american size burger is the same as anywhere else now and not like the stereotype before where everything is bigger in the US. I agree it still applies to soda drinks though.
- Comment on Anon visits America 3 weeks ago:
I don’t even think the stereotypical giant american burger is a thing anymore unless you go to places that specifically market a special large burger. Now a $12 burger is just regular sized. And an $18 “artisanal” burger has a thin disc of meat and is taller than it is wide.

- Comment on [Game Thread] 29 Dec 2024 3 weeks ago:
Is no one on the Spurs coaching staff allowed to tell Wemby to stop chucking 3s when they don’t need it? All those bricks in the last 2-3 mins cost them the game when they were only down 2 point, and he easily scored 4 points inside the arc and around the basket. Look I’ve said this before, I know he keeps shooting those 3s to develop his shot and make himself an all around threat. But when it comes down to the wire and all they need is a high percentage shot, he can easily score (or get fouled) when he plays closer to the basket.
- Comment on Can IMAX Preserve and Revive the Film Industry? - Y.M.Cinema Magazine 3 weeks ago:
The two points they mentioned in the article were my exact thoughts on why the answer is “No” at least for now. IMAX tickets are more expensive, and you don’t even get to experience true IMAX if there isn’t one close to you. The other thing is I’m not willing to spend more on a movie where the IMAX format won’t really do much to enhance it.
Limited Accessibility: IMAX is a premium product, and its ticket prices may not appeal to budget-conscious consumers. Dependence on High-Quality Content: The IMAX format thrives on visually stunning and narratively compelling films, which require collaboration with filmmakers committed to the theatrical experience.

Humans are naturally social animals, so yes. Not physically though, like the other comment said, unless being isolated also means not getting the right nutrition.
