I didn’t understand what a memoir was, until … I think it was John Truby’s “The Anatomy of Genres”, & he explained that it was specific to a person’s experience of some kind, it wasn’t just their biography,
so one might have the memoir of someone’s invovement in some project, or something…
Only then did it make sense that they could be interesting…
( if I could go 50-some years without knowing this, then others could, too. Only explaining because some “memoirs” … aren’t memoirs, so the definition seems to be needing to be made explicit )
