At the least, we need to get back to REGULATED capitalism. The fact that the Activision deal was allowed to go through is preposterous. Judt like everything in our society involving corporations and absurd amounts of money. What’s the point of obliterating regulations if the corporations help nobody except their wealthy shareholders?

We have come so far that we have gone from “maybe the world should be a better place” to “if we are really going to do this capitalism shit, could we at least follow the fundamental foundational concepts instead of a corporate free-for-all where the rules of the game have been tossed out?”

Waiting for the inevitable opinion turn with Game Pass costing more year over year eventually. Not sure if what's left of Xbox brand survives that fall out.

      It’s been a slow, 15 year suffocation.

Maybe I was stupid to believe that they’ll slow down the Xbox console to go extremely hard on Xbox/PC Game Pass and push to be the Netflix of PC games.

You need software to sell hardware…

Like, they’re shooting them selves in the foot right now, this demand they’re trying to cut costs to keep up with, was artificially created by them!

Open AI is the largest single source of the demand, and they’re just redeeming credit Microsoft gave them in exchange for letting Microsoft use their models. Much of the rest of the demand is from users messing around with, or accidentally activating, the models from OpenAI that Microsoft has hastily welded on to anything they could. Microsoft could argue that’s bringing in money, but really Microsoft just raised the price of the office suite and didn’t make it clear that people could have kept the old price by switching to a new tier that didn’t have the features. Like, they could have just raised the price without the new features and pocketed the money without inducing demand or giving OpenAI free compute.

And now to pay for that unforced error, they’re going to let their games side fall even further behind. Like, it’s not happening yet, but, I think we’re quickly going to reach a point where Xbox has gone the way of the Dreamcast, and windows is no longer the default for PC games because it’s such a bloated mess.

I feel like Microsoft has been extremely dodgy when it comes to the future of the Xbox. I bet they’ll just hire more people to fill the gap. It always seems to be “look we’re trimming the fat!” And then “look we’re expanding”. Anything to boost the stock
