    Forget ponds, I prefer a coastal ecosystem in the upper coastal intertidal zone between land and open saltwater or brackish water that is regularly flooded by the tides.

  … and you are so unique as to be virtually unemployable. Many jobs these days want you to be siloed and do not want to pay for extra skills. Replaced by a fresh grad who does only one thing but does it well.

  Not in Science but this is true in entertainment. Not the best musician, not the best actor, not the best comedian, but being pretty good at all three makes me a sought out music director.
