Though I respect your choice of root beer, I think Virgil’s got it beat, sorry homie.
CM400@lemmy.world 4 weeks ago
I have to respect Virgil’s, it is definitely a high quality product made well, but it has too much spearmint for me.

Apparently folks from overseas hate root beer because it tastes like a common medication

a bit like how artifical cherry or grape flavor was ruined by Robitussin.

Rootbeer… so vile so happy and cloy. It’s insidious.

this one’s way too sweet for me, I’mma do spicy root beer all the way.
shout out to sparky’s best root beer I’ve ever had

You ever have a screamer with rootbear slush? It’s probably the best and using this to double up on the ice cream float flavour would be really good I bet

Dumb question, but does anyone know if you can brew root beer into actual beer with alcohol?
Telorand@reddthat.com 1 week ago
Late to the party, but yes. In fact, you can buy brewing kits with yeast and sugar to create the carbonation, which are the same components you’d use to brew and ferment beer.
No idea what the alcohol content would be, but it would be more than typical soda.

Root beer used to be commonly mildly alcoholic (.5-1%). We made traditional root beer in my AP bio class in high school, and weren’t allowed to drink it because of the alcohol
over_clox@lemmy.world 4 weeks ago
Damn, how they gonna have you make a consumable product in class and not even allow you to taste it?
Mr_Blott@feddit.uk 4 weeks ago
That’s how they make Jagermeister
over_clox@lemmy.world 4 weeks ago
Huh, really? Cuz I like root beer every now and then, but I absolutely hate Jager!
simplejack@lemmy.world 4 weeks ago
I guess you could add root beer to fermenting grain, but the end result probably won’t taste like what you expect it too.
