I have my parents on Matrix (previously Signal, Skype, MSN Messenger) with a separate group chat just for memes.
After decades they still know nothing about memes so it’s just meme-adjacent funnies & maybe sometimes news/research papers.

Literally just install the app & give then credentials (or sometimes make an account with them).

I also keep group names & profile pics the same.
I mean, from noob user pov what even is the difference?
