To me they smell like a strong chemical-y smell. A lot like a Sharpie.

A nasty, sickly sweet, acidic smell that absolutely ruined all forms of mushroom and fungus for me because they seem interconnected, like a smell of decay and fermenting biology.
I don’t have a great sense of smell, but I seem particularly sensitive to smells like ants and truffles, it makes me gag.
