Really? So you canât keep the remains/an urn of their ashes? Does that also apply to things like when they make gemstones from ashes?
Dojan@pawb.social âš14â© âšhoursâ© ago
According to Skatteverket, a deceased must be cremated or buried within a month of death. If they get cremated, then the ashes need to be buried within a year. There can be exceptions, the page says
- Should the relatives be in disagreement about funerary arrangements
- In case a relative is unable to organise it, e.g. due to sickness
- In case a survivor is to be buried alongside
- In case the departed has donated their body, e.g. for science
No idea if you can turn loved ones into gemstones here, Iâd assume not. Iâd also assume that if youâre waiting with burying the cremated remains of someone because theyâre to be laid to rest alongside a loved one, youâre also not allowed to keep said remains at home.

That makes sense, itâs just blowing my American mind, where an urn on the mantle is extremely commonplace. My brother and I both an urn with our motherâs remains, for instance.

why? now you donât have them anymore!

Ingen aning. Du fÄr ha aska frÄn djur, men man fÄr inte ha mormor i en urna i bokhyllan.

Theyâre ashes of a person. Some places have laws against the desecration of human remains that would apply to ashes; flushing them down the toilet would probably count

Since when are nazi carcasses considered âhumanâ remains?
