I don’t know where you are, but weed is very cheap in Florida. I can get an ounce for 100 bucks.

For the non-obvious reasons that this works is because weed is kind of expensive so the majority of people going are probably dropping around $100 or more, so you know they have the extra money to throw down on some cookies. Adding on another $10 bucks on a want when buying leisure activity substances makes the decision pretty easy in that moment to trap them.

Stop making me even more jealous lol. The funny thing to me is I don’t even want an ounce anymore! I like concentrates way more and even if I didnt I still smoke flower way less to the point that it would last me way to long that I wouldnt even want it anymore and would rather get something fresh and new to try. At that price i would be giving out a bunch to friends or making crazy large joints just because.
So how much is an eighth? Like $10 bucks? I would prob just buy a few different ones of those and call it a day.

Something like $10, yes
Rocketpoweredgorilla@lemmy.ca 1 day ago
Curious side note, how much is weed down there? Here in Canada a pack of two joints is like $8, an ounce goes for anywhere between $50 and $100 or so.

Not from the states, but I guess you might be interested in the situation in other countries too, so here’s what its like in Germany:
In Germany you usually pay between 3-10€ per gram. And you can get quite the bang out of your buck, if you buy it through the medical system*, you can get weed with 29% THC for a price starting at 2,95€/g**, and I recently got 36% THC for I think 5,50€/g.
I am not sure how the prices in the blackmarket are, but I hears there prices from 10-15€ per gramm are still somewhat usual, although I find it hard to believe.
*In Germany selling weed ist still illegal, except for medical use. With the leaglisation the boundaries to get a prescription for weed have dropped massively, so we now got a funny system with online doctors and pharmacy’s, where you have to fill out a form, where you explain your “symptoms”, and get a prescription in return. It even went this far, that online pharmacies are advertising with same day delivery of tour weed.
** On top of that comes the price for the prescription (10-15€)

That’s interesting to know. Here in Canada we had medical exemptions for weed which was pretty simple to get, but it’s kind of pointless now since it was legalized in 2018 anyway. A medical exemption now really only covers the amount of weed you can grow for personal use. Normally we’re allowed to grow up to 4 plants, but if you have an exemption you can grow more at a time.

The medical exemption also gives access to the older gen dispensaries, which can have better prices/options.

Oh, there is even more fun stuff I forgot. You can grow up to 3 plants at a time, however at the same time you are only allowed to own up to 50g in total and you can carry a maximum of 25g.
I have no idea, what they thought, when defining these limits, but they are literally nothing.

It varries state by state. West coast is actually really cheap, but east coast where I am is much higher. I also think the longer its been available helps pricing as well since we have been dropping little by little each year and I dont even think its that bad anymore. I basically just buy the sale items now. Normally our joints are single but 1g for anywhere from $8 to $30. Ounces are probably double what your prices are if you get a good sale or buy shake otherwise the standard is about $90 for a quarter (used to be $100) but can go as low as $50-$60 on sale. I generally buy concentrate and i can get them as low as $25-$30 for 1g which used to average $50 just a few years ago.
I don’t buy much, the 1g concentrate is small, cheap, very strong, and lasts me a month or more and im fine with that. Normally everyone i see who is buying stuff in store buys way more though.

Ah ok thanks for the info. That is a little pricey. Back before it was legal here the going rates were about $10 for a gram, $180 an ounce, but of course it dropped significantly since it was legalized across the country.
We can also grow our own legally (up to 4 plants at a time), but most people don’t really bother.
HeyJoe@lemmy.world 1 day ago
Yeah growing up it was always $20 1g, $50 3.5g, and $90 7g. I used to get awful weed for around $200 an ounce and it was like $300-$400 for good stuff. So with those prices it kind of set the original pricing for the state, but it has come down significantly and having the ability to choose stuff on sale is a gamechanger. We all agree here that it will continue to drop as it continues to become available and more stores open up which is incredible. I am slightly jealous of the places that get it even cheaper.
When our state legalized it the only way some agreed to let it pass was to agree to some rules. That meant no personal home growing at all sadly… if I didnt have kids I would take the risk, but its absolutely not worth it. I just want to try it once for fun. They have said from the beginning that it will be legal in the future, but recently it got taken off the table again. We believe they dont want to allow it so more people have no choice but to buy it so the state rakes in more income. Hopefully one day it changes. The funny thing is when it was passed they didnt realize there was a part in there to legalize mushrooms lol. Everyone was so angry about it and i think they had to immediatly pass a new bill correcting it which was done in a week or so. Just goes to show if they want something done they absolutely can do their jobs. Sorry for the extra info haha.

I don't know where that person is from, but it's not expensive in Washington.
